Flip or Flop Is Making a HUGE Change This Summer

If Money Weren't an Issue . . .

If Money Weren't an Issue . . .

Would you order a custom Carter Kustera Portrait ($750) from Jonathan Adler? For less than $1,000, the artist will render your face in silhouette and add a tag line of your choice (or his choice, if you can't think of one). Is this a good price for a portrait, or are you not into it?

I put yes because I love silos but I've seen people at festivals and fairs who would do this for far less.

My entire family had ours done at Disney World back in the 90s. Total they were definitely under $50. This joker is crazy to try and sell cut out pieces of paper for almost a grand. Hey I have a better idea - I'll go pay my rent.

I could totally do the same thing for about five bucks! And I can come up with a saying, how hard is that? Seriously people would pay $750 for these??? In this economy? Crazy!

If money weren't an issue, I still would not spend $750 on something like this when I can make it on my own using an overhead projector.

I agree whitefox, the concept is cute, but when it's something you and your friends/family made for fun. Not something you buy for $750!

Even if money weren't an issue, I can not imagine spending that kind of money on these. For Valentine's Day (I believe), my 2nd grade teacher did all of our portraits like this in minutes with a projector. All you have to do is trace the profile. Then she had us cut them out and paste them on paper, decorate, and then write a nice note or poem for our parents. This is a great project for any age group and much more personal!

I think they're very cute! If you had smaller children...they'd be great for years to come. I love the colors. Some of you DIDN'T read the point of this post, "IF MONEY WEREN'T AN ISSUE...."

I see these in Adler's stores and I adore them. Sure the silhouette thing is kinda basic, but what really puts it into high gear are the sayings underneath them. But yeah, they're overpriced for sure. But hey, if $$ weren't an issue right?? I've been wanting to do my own "knockoff" versions for a while, with clever sayings included because unfortunately, $$ is an issue.

Silhouettes are not a new idea. I think this could be a fun at home project with very little effort.

Really? $750 for a silhouette?I've had those mini-cut out ones done in Beijing of my entire family for about US$10 altogether.
