Who isn't tempted to simply sail away from it all? I know that every sunny Summer day we've experienced this season in San Francisco has had me longing to sail across the Bay. And while I haven't yet been out on the water, I'm still holding out hope that one of these weekends I will be able to sail away from it all — if only for a few hours. Even if we can't set foot aboard a sailboat, we can cultivate the look of a sea life in our homes with a few nautical-inspired trinkets and home treasures.
My absolute favorite at the moment are these Recycled Sailcloth Market Bags ($48) from Susan Hoff. Can't you imagine plunking one of these in the basket of your bike and cruising to the farmers market? Sounds like a perfect way to start a weekend!
Hoff, a San Francisco native, has been sailing since she was a teenager. All of her bags are made from recycled sailcloth, and those with leather straps are crafted from old horse reins. As a demonstration of her commitment to protecting and preserving wild spaces, one percent of all revenue from sales is donated to environmental nonprofits through 1% For the Planet.
