Nice and New: Alexander Girard Pillows at Room and Board

Thanks to Another Shade of Grey for tipping me off to the new Alexander Girard Pillows now available at Room and Board. A veteran of Herman Miller in the 1950s and 1960s, Girard was one of the most creative textile designers of the mid-century modern era.

At $79 a piece, Room & Board's exclusive line is a relatively affordable way to get a legendary designer's accents into your home. The pillows resurrect two fun and colorful Girard designs: a wallpaper pattern called Alphabet, available in orange, red, and black, and a drapery design called Fruit Tree, which comes in a predominantly green or orange color scheme.

yeah, but you can't make a Girard pillow. ;) I love his work. and as soon as I decide on a new paint color for the living room, I am so buying a set!!

I saw these this weekend and I love them. However, I wouldn't spend $80 on a pillow. I'm hesitant to even spend $20 on a pillow.

I love the legendary aspect, but I just personally can't see myself paying $80 for a pillow - mostly because I can make one myself. I'd be more likely to spend money on something I can't make myself - like a chandelier or something.

i don't know a thing about designer pillows, but can't you buy similar fabric at a fabric store? because pillows are -absolutely- the easiest thing to make and will not cost you anything close to $80
