POPSUGAR Home: How would you use this piece in a bedroom?

Rebekah Carey McNall: This cart is the perfect size for being a catchall as a bedside table without feeling too clunky. While the shelves have a heavy look to them, the slimness of the shelves and rails keep it from looking too heavy next to your bed. This cart is the perfect width for a bedside lamp, has a drawer to hold your latest book, and hides less-than-pretty remotes. The lower shelves could hold a throw blanket, your favorite coffee-table books, the latest magazines, or even your laptop and tablet. I loved styling the cart in this use with an ultrafeminine look, juxtaposing the metal with muted vintage hues and pops of color.

Rebekah's three nightstand styling tips:

  • Keeping a vintage, or other favorite, bowl on top of your cart can allow you to store that day's jewelry when you've forgotten to take it off earlier.
  • Store a few pens and a notebook in the drawer so that you can jot down ideas or to-dos that you're afraid you'll forget, and are keeping you awake.
  • Store larger items, like big books, on the bottom shelf so that it will feel balanced with a taller item, like a lamp, on the top.
