Open House: What's on Your Coffee Table?

A coffee table in some ways is a window to your soul. On my coffee table you'll find a plentiful stock of shelter magazines; DIY, design, and art books; expensive candles (a guilty pleasure); matches; coasters (for my wine habit); a silver dish to catch odds and ends; the workings of my latest craft project; and a deck of I ♥ NY cards. My mother's coffee table is much more formal, with flowers, decorative (useless) accents, and a big Taschen coffee table book opened to her favorite botanical illustration. Tell me, what's on your coffee table and what do you think it says about you?

Always fresh flowers, candles, glass coasters, a collection of recent vogue/grazia/glamour magazines and four books: Winnie Pooh, The House at Pooh Corner, When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six. :)

quite a few candles, some glass coasters i picked up at a yard sale (they say: sober, tipy, drunk, sh!t-faced and hungover :-D) a box of parisian themed stationary and some magazines.... i always had the idea that coffee table books make a home so my next step is to start collecting those to display.

I have candles, an incense holder and a guest book on the coffee table. If I have fresh flowers I put them there too. I should start putting my coffee table books there, I have so many pretty ones!

We keep the coffee table clear of anything.

I have a minimal amount of items -- universal remote, tissue box with stainless steel cover (hubbie likes kleenex in the living room), and some Netflix dvd's we need to watch. Just three items. In my opinion, my coffee table says that I'm a neat, orderly person. I do not store books or magazines on my coffee table (I have a reading room for that). I do not store crafting projects on my coffee table either (I have a separate crafting area, complete with drafting table for that). Also, I do NOT accessorize. I have built-in architectural elements in my interiors (mason fireplace, large picture windows, etc.) that are very aesthetic. Additionally, I have some good interior installations (custom drapery, well-designed furniture pieces, etc.). Every thing comes together in harmonious palette of colors and texture. So in my opinion, no accessories are necessary.

I missed the second part. I think it says to me that we love art, nature, traveling and family. I forgot about the coffee table in the sitting room. It's my Grandmothers old cedar chest and on top of it is a lace doilie with a votive candle in a glass holder, a pewter candle snuffer, more books from our travels; one from Monticello in VA, one from Malta, and one from Yellowstone Park. These books get switched out seasonally with other books from our travels.

On the shelf under the glass top is: Sister Wendy's 1000 Masterpieces (art book) A book of great pictures of Malta from our trip there last year. A book on the Gallery de Borghese in Rome, also purchased from our trip there last year. On the glass top of the table is a shallow cut glass dish that used to belong to hubby's Grandmother, in the dish are 3 cacti that we just got from a recent trip to Palm Springs.
