Jen Zahigian takes pictures that remind me of an America I long for but have rarely experienced — and for some reason I find this true even in her foreign shots. There is a wistfulness and sense of nostalgia in her photographs that both intrigues and calms me. Jen grew up in Fresno and now live in Oakland’s Waterfront District, an area filled with industry and old converted warehouses. She has had several exhibitions this past year, including at Oakland's perfectly curated new shop Mignonne. She maintains a playful relationship with photography, and all images reflect a spontaneous moment, with no planning or setup.
