Picture of Bella Swan in New Moon With Dreamcatcher — Do You Sleep With a Dreamcatcher?

Do You Sleep With a Dreamcatcher?

Happy Eclipse day! I actually just started catching up on New Moon in anticipation of the new film — sacrilegious, I know. It's funny that Bella sleeps with a dreamcatcher . . . I don't think I've seen one of those since I took a fifth grade field trip to an American Indian museum. Beyond their traditional purposes, dreamcatchers seem to be the décor choice of tweens, alongside lava lamps and beaded hanging curtains. But don't get me wrong, some of them really are beautiful, overcommercialized though they may be. Do you own one?

I totally had those when I was a kid too... and runninesq, I still think I have my dreamcatcher earrings around somewhere too! A lot of them can be really cool looking, as hokey as they might be.

Oh man, I collected one from every southern state I went to as a child... and here I am now, 22, in my own apartment... with them decorating each room to match my themes. GUILTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. Love them.

I considered getting one (from my native american friend, not a gift shop), cause I had these horrible nightmares for no reason. They went away after a year though, so I never bothered again. This is totally something where I don't care if it works, or if it only works if people believe in it.. if it makes my nightmares go away either way, I'm all for it :)

I haven't had a dreamcatcher since I was a kid, but I do sleep with a piece of amethyst under my pillow, which is supposed to have similar properties!

My mother got me a kit when I was younger to make one because I had horrible nightmares. She heard it would catch the nightmares and then they would "burn away in the morning sun". She thought on a whim, why not. Maybe it was just my subconcious, but I haven't had horrible nightmares in my bedroom at home since we put it up so many years ago.

When I was a tween in the mid-90's, I had a dreamcatcher on my window AND a hot pink lava lamp :)
