Reason Furniture Design Made From Salvaged Materials

Casa Verde: Reclaimed Furniture From Reason Modern

I'm a sucker for furniture made of salvaged materials — one of the few things Alicia Silverstone and I have in common — but it can be hard to strike the right balance. Reclaimed furniture tends to either be a little too rustic and unfinished for my taste or a little too expensive for my budget. Which is why I was excited to find Bay Area-based Reason Furniture Design during my recent quest for a salvaged dining room table that was both beautiful and affordable.

To find out more about Reason Furniture, keep reading.

Reason founder Jacob Ruch was inspired by his great uncle Reason Ruch's self-sufficient, thrifty approach to life, and started Reason Furniture Design with those principles in mind. Working out of a co-op workspace in San Francisco, Ruch crafts practical, hip, and beautifully made furniture from salvaged materials. Most of Ruch's furniture is built on commission, and many of his materials are found on the side of the road. He's turned old fences and Formica counter samples into everything from bunk beds and stools to dining tables and sconces. Check out some of my favorite pieces — including the dining table I claimed as my own! — below.
