For me, summertime is almost inseparable with the sound of my grandparents' screen door opening and shutting. Over 30 years, it maintained its characteristic squawk, thanks to a never-replaced, aging spring. Now, my brother owns the house, and guess what? The same screen door, with the same protesting spring, remains on the house, even though he and his wife have renovated the rest of the farmhouse.
Screen doors are great for letting in cooling Summer breezes while keeping out unwanted pesky insects, but they're not de rigueur in most houses. Do you have one on your casa?
