Simple Style: Gift Wrap Your Door

I'm always tempted by those single sheets of wrapping paper you often find in fancy paper stores, but I don't really wrap enough gifts to justify buying all the paper I crave. That's why I love this project I spotted on Design Sponge: Blogger Grace livened up her closet door by filling the panels with some leftover gift wrap. This would be a fun way to get rid of scraps — or a great excuse to buy some of those papers I've been eyeing.

Books and Shoes- now I see the creepy little faces too after you menitoned it! Anyway great idea. I just saw a vintage pic. of a car in the 70's with giftwrap lacquered (sp?) to it- it looked oddly awesome!

If you want to make it even more durable, try covering the paper with clear contact paper (I can't remember if Grace mentioned that in her post - she may have!).

what a great idea! there's always great (expensive) gift wrap that i wouldn't use on a gift since it'd be thrown out, but this is a good use for such pretty papers!

OMG what a great idea! I always save really nice paper I get (I'm a dork). This would be a great way to decorate a closet door inside a bedroom. I love it! And I love the idea of lining cupboards too!

Cute idea! I've seen something similar done with the drawer fronts on an old dresser, think they used wallpaper for that.

Awesome idea! I'm subletting the apartment where I live right now so I can't so anything permanent in terms of redecorating (though I am dying to!). The pansy gift wrap is very pretty too!

Oooh, this would be a great idea to line the glass doors to my office with. I was thinking of trying to do a custom photomat over the glass so I could display photos, but this may work out more easily.

I am hoping to buy some cool paper to line the back of my cupboards with. I think it would look great showing through my champagne glasses for instance...

Love it! Another great use for this type of paper is to use spray adhesive to attach it to the inside back wall of a cabinet (medicine cabinet, kitchen cabinets, armoir).

CUUUTE idea! In my bedroom right now, I have French doors with gathered muslin panels that cover the glass, but as soon as I switch to a room with a solid door I am keeping my eye out for great complementing patterns and colors! I live near Papyrus, so there's plenty of temptation close by ;-)
