Today we're excited to bring you a sneak peek of the 2012 Sunset Idea House. This year, the home is located in the heart of Sonoma wine country in Healdsburg, CA, with the fictional residents, as envisioned by the Sunset magazine staff, a 40-something couple with twins who are passionate about bicycling and wine. The wine and bike theme runs throughout the home, which is fabulously outfitted by a variety of our favorite companies, and brought into stunning focus by interior designer Sharon Portnoy.
The house itself is an eco prefab design from Blu Homes, a prefab building company whose unique hinged panel design can be manufactured on site and then shipped across the country. Amazingly, the home was erected in a day and a half (the finishing touches, from flooring to counters to wall paint, then took an equally amazing four weeks to finish). You can actually watch a time-lapse video of the process courtesy of Blu Homes.
Tours will be available every weekend from Aug. 3 through Sept. 9, but today you can get a special virtual tour to experience the magic of this truly beautiful home! If you love what you see in terms of decor, check out HabitatDesign to shop the look of the house.
