This weekend, thousands of fans of Sunset magazine will descend on its Menlo Park headquarters for Celebration Weekend. There, they'll take in seminars, garden and cooking demonstrations, and meet-and-greet sessions with famous chefs and designers and get inspired to make the most out of their homes and gardens.
While the weekend is chock-full of fantastic, not-to-be-missed experiences, top on my list is the 2011 Idea House. This year, Sunset has partnered with Seattle-based architecture firm Hybrid. The firm's Cargotecture homes are made from wildly reimagined shipping containers. The Cargotecture c192 Nomad, which sleeps a family of four, is built from a 24-foot-long container. Due to floor-to-ceiling glass doors, what was once a solid metal box is now a breezy, beautiful, and welcoming space.
Take a look at the slideshow for peeks at the house, which you can view in person this Saturday and Sunday at Celebration Weekend. I've also taken plenty of photos of the inspiring landscape surrounding the Idea House, including a chicken coop built by Kippen House and the beautiful landscaping provided by Dig Gardens. Let's take the tour!
