Target Site Crashed From Missoni

Did You Partake in the Missoni For Target Madness?

Missoni lovers all over have long awaited — and dreamed of — the arrival of the iconic prints at a reasonable price. We were captivated with David Stark's pop-up vision, and now Target stores all over the nation have been battling the sheer volume of people trying to get their hands on Missoni for Target clothing and home goods. Due to the overwhelming and enthusiastic response, the site Target.com was also down all day on Tuesday! I'm curious to know: did you wake up super early to try to get your hands on the goods or is Missoni simply not your bag?

My local Target is only two blocks from home so I was the first Missoni shopper in the door. Because my Target is in a rural agricultural area there weren't fashionistas clamoring for goods but there also was not a large selection of the line. I bought two sweaters, a scarf, the flats, a hanging cosmetics bag, and some notecards. On my way to check out there were three other Missoni seekers arriving.

Fortunately I live a stone's throw away from a Target (Oakland/Emeryville). I was able to head there before work and got most of what I wanted! It was still pretty crazy—the women were running and pushing. One woman even tried to steal another's cart. Yikes! Not the most ideal way to wake up, but it was well worth it!

I was disgusted at how shoppers were behaving. Like joymmart I went mid-morning with no luck. I was able to pick up some items online though. I blogged about it further here: http://www.loveandlaceblog.com/2011/09/mission-missoni.html

Bought online at 6am Chicago time. Website worked just fine and everything was in stock!

I went at 10 PM, since I wasn't able to get there that morning...big mistake. Most everything was cleaned out (this is in Cincy). The shoes weren't too picked over, though, and I was able to get a cute pair in my size. I'm hoping they aren't treating this as a one-time shipment to stores and will re-stock. I'll be checking back for some of the sweaters I was eyeing.
