Tips For Using Screwdrivers

Casa Quickie: Soap Up the Screws

Have you ever cursed your screwdriver for making your DIY job just a tad too painful? I have. I've dropped the screw too many times to count before even making a mark on the wall. Even power tools can be challenging. Lucky for me, my old man is quite handy and has given me pointers on putting things together. Thus far, one of his best kept secrets is adding a bit of gooey soap (a tiny glob goes a long way) to the tip of a screw before you put it into the wall or object.

Try it out and let me know how it works for you!

I had a 200 year old cradle in my family that I wanted to use but unfortunately the counter-sinking screws had been taken out. It was really difficult to get them back into place until I read about the gooey soap trick! It was awesome! Totally saved my hands and fortunately I didn't have to re-drill and widen holes in a family treasure!
