Fashion Designer Tom Ford is Selling a Breathtakingly Beautiful Estate the Size of Manhattan

We already knew fashion designer Tom Ford had impeccable taste, but now that we've seen his otherworldly New Mexico ranch, we know the man is a style genius. Tom and husband Richard Buckley have just listed their sprawling 20-plus-acre ranch — that's about the size of the entire island of Manhattan, in case you're counting — for a whopping $75 million.

The property, located about 30 minutes outside Santa Fe in Galisteo, NM, consists of two compounds designed by Tadao Ando. The famous Japanese architect is known for his poetic ability to create structurally complex designs that appear stunningly simple. The main residence is an oasis in the desert with clean lines, earth tones, and breathtaking modern style. Instead of sitting on the earth, the structure floats atop a reflecting pool. Adjacent is a state-of-the-art barn with eight horse stalls that seamlessly transition to a visually stunning circular indoor-outdoor riding arena.

The property includes two guest houses and four separate staff housing areas. Among them is the ranch manager's headquarters, designed to blend seamlessly with the rest of the property's aesthetic, and horse facilities. If the chaos of a commercial airport seems too daunting, the new owners can do as Tom and Richard did and land directly on the property's own air strip, parking the plane in their private hangar. As if that weren't enough, there's also an Old West town on the property that has been used as a set for films, including Wild Wild West and Lonesome Dove.

Sound like a place you would love to visit? You're not alone. Ben Gold started an Indiegogo campaign to crowdsource the purchase of the ranch. He hopes to raise $75,660,000 (the extra $660,000 is for expenses such as a ranch staff, cleaners, and a chef). He writes, "We're unlocking one of the world's most beautiful (and most expensive) pieces of real estate and creating the opportunity for hundreds of people to stay . . . backers have the once in a lifetime chance to claim the perk of a one week (or more) stay at this magical property. We can't wait to be able to share this incredible place with all of our supporters!" Entry, however, still comes at a steep price; backers must commit to $97,000 in exchange for a one-week stay at the ranch. So far, no one has contributed.
