Trend Alert: Traditional Sweden, Reinterpreted

Husmusen rounded up a handful of items with one large and underlying thread, old Swedish traditions. I can't read a word of Swedish, but the images speak loudly. These modern furnishings and accessories have taken a note from folkloric costume traditions including weaving, embroidery, and other needlework, colors, patterns, and symbols, which are all important to Swedish heritage.
A Dalecarlian horse takes a new, softer form in the shape of an enormous floor cushion by Skraddaregatan. Design student Moa Jantzes unites tradition and innovative design with a modern rocking chair. Contemporary mugs by Toyo form feature nostalgic cross-stitch patterns. Ubiquitous wooden footwear, worthy of being put on display, get a fashion-forward makeover by Åsa Westlund. And, an eco grocery bag is embellished with Kurbits, a decorative style of painting. Do you love it as much as I do?
