Valentino Fall 2013 Ad Campaign

Valentino by Way of the Renaissance Fair

If decorating with black walls and still-life art isn't your usual design M.O., we have something that might change your mind. Sure, both have an undeniably medieval undertone, but you don't have to be a Renaissance-fair freak to feel the lure of this darkly romantic — dare we say — trend! After spotting Valentino's newly debuted Fall 2013 ad campaign inspired by the oil paintings of masters like Rembrandt and Johannes Vermeer, we instantly connected it to the Paulette Tavormina still-life photographs that we swooned over last Spring. While tackling this trend in a literal sense might be tricky — farmers market fruit and stiletto vignettes aren't exactly practical — the contrast of rustic simplicity and old-world opulence is a combination we're tempted to try!
