A recent attempt at making space in my cabinets also left my vase collection bare. Thanks to generous neighbors and my romantic husband, I suddenly had loads of fresh flowers and nothing to put them in. So, I looked around the house for something that would suit my mini calla lilies temporarily, and I think I've found the perfect alternative in a common household item: a toothbrush holder! Not only did this in-a-pinch solution keep my blooms happy, I'm a big fan of how it separates the stems to give a nearly perfectly arranged bouquet. Next time I've got a bunch of smallish flowers, I might even skip the vase altogether and just use my toothbrush holder.
