What's the Carbon Footprint For McCain's Mansions?

What's the Carbon Footprint For McCain's Mansions?

You might remember that presidential candidate John McCain couldn't recall how many homes he owned. Given that, he probably doesn't know what the carbon footprint of these homes is either. Can you guess? Source

The jury may be out on the carbon footprint of the Obama mansion, but the jury is definitely in on Tony Rezko, the convicted felon who helped Obama purchase that mansion.

I just think that your "family values" are spiraling out of control when you've shingled your piano with family portraits. Also, that's the ugliest damn piano I've ever seen. GOP decor blows.

Well since Obama has ONE house I think it's safe to say that his carbon footprint will be less.

I definitely think if there's going to be a post like this, it should also offer up Obama's house for comparison. But I don't agree with those who say we shouldn't care about McCain's environmental impact just because he's not outspoken about the cause. I mean, he's not a spokesperson for animal rights, but I'd still be interested if he drown kittens in his spare time.

i agree. let's take a look at the carbon footprint of the "going green" supporters-as far as i know McCain has never made claims of reducing his carbon footprint in his personal homes. while we're all it we might as well examine how small Obama's carbon footprint is since the sugar network has been swinging his way all along. Let have a quiz on Casa...Compared to the average American's spending, how much larger is CasaSugar's spending on household accessories compared to the average American household? ...because redecorating/spending without re-purposing our old stuff contributes to environmental problems as well. With every great new decorating idea is she filling the landfills in a major way???

does anyone else think its a little creepy how perfectly aligned those picture frames are on the piano. that is some serious OCD right there or terrible staging for a photograph.

Gee, since he didn't start this whole carbon footprint madness maybe I don't care what his consumption is. Whereas hypocrite Al Gore likes to do all the talking with none of the walking.

if some of these are investment properties that are rented out/sold to other people, isn't really more appropriate to consider it the carbon footprint of the inhabitants of the property?

I think the thing that is odd is if someone's house is 3.3x bigger than mine- wouldn't they just use 3.3x more energy, water and the like? That doesn't seem to be the case with most of these people.

I can't imagine not knowing how many homes I have. You don't need them all do you? This really makes me not relate to him at all. I know the Obama's live in a mansion too but Barack seems more down to earth and would be able to say that he has x # of homes.

Oh come on. This is a kind of silly posting. Obama lives in a mansion, too. What about Al Gore's ironic energy usage? And Britney Spears? Wealthy people tend to live in larger homes, or own several investment/vacation properties and I bet if all of us had more money, we would too! That being said, I wouldn't be too surprised if one mansion used 10x the energy of an average American home. The average American home is 2,349 square feet. That's surprising to me! Here's a breakdown of the McCain's digs (most are relatively small):
