most of my stuff is from IKEA or vintage/antique stores, but also from craigslist and some from the furniture and lighting stores i worked at a few years ago (great discounts!) i used ot work at IKEA too, so got good discounts that way.

At this point 90% of our furniture is from Ikea and our linens are from Target. Our art work, however, is all unique. An artist friend of my husband's did them all. My nick nacks are from my travels with my family (dad was in the military).

Most of my furniture are hand-me-downs from family. I built my boys loft beds from a kit I purchased on ebay and I shop second hand stores first but if I can't find what I need, I go to big retail stores.

Currently being a student it's all about Ikea or (even better) second hand from relatives. They now all know not to get rid of *anything* without checking with me first!

The major pieces like living room couches, chairs, dining room table, we purchased in furniture store show rooms. I feel it's really necessary to actually sit on something if it's a major piece. But most accent tables( consoles & sofa tables), bookcases, upholstered benches, chaise lounges, file cabinets, etc, I purchased online and assembled. I even purchased our canopy bed online, (although the mattress was another test drive it first!)

It's a mix, some department store and furniture store basics, with some thrift shop and yard sale finds. A few inherited pieces; Ebay has been my friend for lamps/ottoman's, etc. And honestly you can't beat JC Penney for curtains and drapes, a lot of variety and not a lot of money.
