Where Do You Iron?

I love Arts and Crafts apartments, which often have recessed ironing board cupboards built into the wall of the kitchen, bathroom, or utility closet. These closets manage to combine convenience with charm, and also mean you don't have to spend money on an ironing board. However, most of us rely on shlepping ironing boards from closets to various rooms to press our laundry.

I do have a laundry room, but it's tiny. I iron in the living room, so I can watch TV at the same time :)

I normally iron in the laundry room or in the living room when there's something good on TV.

I very rarely iron--I DESPISE doing it. It is my most hated "chore". I try and avoid clothes that I know will need it.

I usually buy clothes that don't need ironing, but if I do need to iron it is in my kitchen/dining room/living room/laundry room. :)

Hahaha, when I saw the title in my RSS feed I said to myself "what's an iron?". Nice!

I would iron in my laundry room but it's a tad too small for my big board. So I iron in the den (about 5 feet away). About half the time I toss things in the dryer because I’m short on time, but otherwise I’ve never minded ironing. It’s a good mental break – you have to focus on what you’re doing but it doesn’t require a lot of brainpower. And you can actually see the results of what you’ve done. (Clothes look so much better when you actually iron them – it’s not even about the wrinkles. They just look crisper. I air dry a lot of stuff and even that has to be ironed.) I need to find someone who would do a housework trade – I could do the ironing for both households and the other person could handle my paperwork or clean my bathroom for me!

Iron? I steam my clothes, and I keep the steamer in my bedroom in a corner. I do have an ironing board that I keep near the washer/dryer but it's used for laying out sweaters to dry at the moment.

I have a built-in ironing board and I *hate* it. It's in our bedroom on the only otherwise empty wall. We'd like to put a TV in there, but it's in the way. Because we don't iron very much (I intentionally avoid buying things that require ironing), it ends up being a junk table instead of being useful, and even when it's "put away", it juts out from the wall by an inch or two. It's not worth it to get it removed, because the drywall repair will be a ton, but it annoys me. I'll never buy a house with a built-in ironing board.

In my office, on the floor for now (the ironing board is getting squeaky and it drives me nuts)

I also have a handheld steamer. It's bulky, but loads easier than an iron.

I've been forced to start ironing Girl Scout patches lately! But I rarely have to iron my clothes... like most people, I just dry and hang quickly. (Unless my husband does laundry, then I will rewash rather than iron!)

I can't tell you the last time I ironed. I take my stuff out of the dryer asap and I hang everything up. So much better than ironing *shudder*.

In my home-office. I'm not sure why but I keep the ironing board in that closet so that's where I iron.

I loooooove my Ikea ironing board! It's a half one and hangs in the closet! So when I need to use it quickly for crafts, I either put it on my bed or on my desk (if it's cleared off enough). I don't iron my clothes though; mainly use it for sewing.

I iron on my bed on a tiny little ironing board left over from college that is broken in half because my boyfriend stepped on it. It's pretty pitiful actually, so I usually implement the take-stuff-out-of-the-dryer-immediately-so-it-doesn't-wrinkle method.
