Would You Dress a Room in All Red?

Legendary Vogue Editor-in-Chief Diana Vreeland covered her living room head to toe in scarlet chintz, "like a garden, but a garden in hell," she said. It was a bold move but it matched her leading personality, and as she pointed out, "I can't imagine becoming bored with red — it would be like becoming bored with the person you love." If you're a person who loves red, I can't imagine it either, but I can imagine becoming bored with chintz. So, I was excited to spot this living room of designer Marsia Holzer on New York Social Diary, which was inspired by Vreeland's lauded living room. Instead of an exact echo, though, Holzer put a contemporary spin on the original by losing the chintz and using mostly solids. I love it. What do you think? Would you decorate a room in all one color?

No problem with red accents, but a completely red room is too much.

I think that would have too much of a David Lynch vibe (somebody mentioned Twin Peaks, I'm with them).

No, I find it overwhelming perhaps because I am not found of red in general. And when it comes to color, mixing it up is the way to go imo.

No. Personally, I like color harmonies.

skigurl, has a point. I grew up in a pink room, and I was depressed. I have red accents in my home but I wouldn't do a wall.

It needs more accent colors...all that red just blends together and makes it look really boring.

Not ALL red, but I would do a lot of red.

No... but it's not that I don't like it, it's just not me.

I hear music from Twin Peaks when I look at this! Love it, by the way.

Quite possibly. I used to live in a loft apartment with super-high ceilings and one of the big walls was painted red. It was so fabulous!

Without those boots I love this. I don't think it would work in my house but I love the idea of red. When we finally move I would love to do our living room in red.

My great aunt had a red room in her house. We slept in the room. It made everyone edgy and get in to arguments.
