Is weaving the new knitting? Artist Cathy Callahan seems to think so, and with the trend of wall weavings on the rise, we can't help but agree. After spotting them at the Dwell on Design trade show in June, we saw them later that month in One Kings Lane's first-ever Artisanal Sale, which featured three wall-weaving artists. Coincidence? Nope, more like a trend. To get you up to speed on the emerging movement, we rounded up some of our favorite weaving artists, secret sources, and even a DIY hack!
Much more textural and dimensional than traditional art, weavings are a great way to add color to a space. We're loving these colorblocked beauties from Brook&Lyn.
While these weavings can creep into the high hundreds (even thousands), we've noticed some adorable options from Etsy for under $100, like this version with fringe and tassels. If you're feeling really adventurous though, try your hand at making your own. Creativebug hung strands of colorful yarn from a dowel, cutting them at different lengths to achieve a similar effect.
