I hope to someday live in a neighborhood where I know most of my neighbors. It would be nice to have a community feeling when I come home. Right now, I don't know any of my neighbors (except the girl who lives right upstairs and we're not friends or anything).

Our closest neighbor is over a half mile away!

I have one neighbor who is pushy and boorish, and calls you incessantly if she thinks you are home to talk about nothing while she simultaneously yells at her kid and husband. I make sure to get me mail before she comes home from work.

We have an active neighborhood association and have a huge block party at the end of every summer, which is excellent for meeting new neighbors!. I'm good mates with the family next door, and my cat's kitty-girlfriend lives across the street so we're close with them. There's only one family in my immediate residence that doesn't associate with anyone else--it's odd. They don't wave back, don't smile, don't talk to anyone else. I wish a different family lived there! :\ Everywhere I've lived there's been amazing neighbors. Neighbors became friends and then adopted family! We have a roaming potluck every year with the neighbors I grew up with (which is only a few blocks from where I live now). Thanksgiving has been with neighbors/friends for several years now. I love it here.

We all say hello but nothing over friendly. I have 2 neighbors that I would say we are really friendly. The one who lives beside me though has annoying dogs that keep you awake at night and let's her dogs come and do their business in my yard and chase my vehicle and she doesn't say a word to the dogs.

When we lived in NY we would have been nasty if a neighbor had even tried to make eye contact (or maced the mofo), but here in the sweet South we are in and out of each others houses on a daily bases. We have an ecclectic cul de sac/block of people from Brazil, Jamaica, Pakistan, Mexico, Bahamas, Trinidad, Iran, and Connecticut. We have "cul de sac" BBQ's most weekend nights, the kids play in the street with more moms and dads than they ever wanted to discipline them; we share holidays, birthdays, the ups and the downs, and share in the cost of things like renting pressure washers and aerators to save money and keep up the appearance/value of our entire neighborhood. The husbands are in a fantasy football league together and have been on an amateur soccer league for the last five years; they play, win, lose, fight, and get injured together. This summer five of them carried a sixth when he fell out of a tree he was trimming and broke his leg. They went to the hospital with he and his wife, and carried him on a board from car to examination, to X-Ray, back to examination, back to car, and finally back into the house. I've been in the room moments after two of my neighbors children were born. We waited at five A.M. for our first adopted child came home to our neighbors so we could welcome the first boy to our cul de sac. Our lives and stories are so intertwined I don't know where our family ends and our neighbors begin. We are in the process of selling this home and the only thing I'm going to miss are my neighbors.

I've been lucky to have grown up alway having a friend living nearby, even today. My immediate neighbors i am not close to but the good thing is that we all keep to our own parking spaces.

My last neighbor was an exchange student from Germany. I got to know him and his Swedish girlfriend (also exchange) well- I now I have a place to stay in Berlin :woohoo: I dont really know my new neighbor. I introduced myself but she is always in and out so I dont see her much. Other than that everyone here keeps to themselves- which can be good and bad

We have 4 new sets of neighbors to get to know! They all seem very nice. We were very chummy with one of the families that moved due to financial reasons. I'll miss all of their family drama...maybe. I won't miss their 3 dogs.

When we were going to build our house, I walked over to our only neighbors' house as she was coming out to walk her dog. I introduced myself...on the day our modular home was set on the foundation she had baked a cake for us in celebration! She and her husband are elderly and once they heard both my parents were gone they insisted on becoming my "adoptive" parents! I look out for them and they look out for us!!! We've lived here almost three years and I'm so grateful for their presence in our lives!!!! I've gotten two other neighbors since and they haven't really tried with us even though we have with them. Now we're about to get new neighbors right behind our property and I'm praying they will be wonderful like the one's we now refer to as family.
