Are You a Real Estate Junkie?

I'll be the first to admit that I am a bit of a real estate junkie. Zillow is my dirty little pleasure — I love searching the market in my neck of the woods as well as fantasizing about homes elsewhere. I'm also a bit hooked on real estate shows on TV. Ever wonder who grabs the free real estate catalogs at the grocery store? I do! Open house in my neighborhood this weekend? I'm there! There is just something about a new pad that excites me, and even if I'm not looking for myself, I still like to know what's out there. What about you? Are you a real estate junkie?

Yes! I love looking at real estate. And, while it's unrealistic to go to every open house in my neighborhood, I love popping in at them from time-to-time. (And I will realistically be in the market in about a year, so even though the same places won't be available, I like that it gives me some context as far as pricing, metro accessibility, etc.)

Really like that site. Glad to find out that our home is one of the few on the block that are estimated at the highest value even though its value has dropped significantly since we bought it. Good info to know. I'm trying to give this neighborhood at least 10 to 15 years.

YES, I'm obsessed. One of my favorite things to do on a weekend day is plunk down in a coffee shop with the local listings magazine. Also, some of my favorite sites, besides Zillow, are propertyshark.com, socketsite.com, curbed.com, and my VERY favorite for browsing: sfarmls.com. Even after we bought our place (after 1 year of going to open houses), I still like to drop into an open house if it looks good. I'm always sort of concerned that I'll stumble upon a flat I like a lot better than mine, but luckily it hasn't happened yet :-D
