Isla Fisher looked a little bit blue out grabbing coffee in LA yesterday. She has quite a keychain to let her into any number of doors, and there's one big one in particular that's about to open in her life. The hotly anticipated Confessions of a Shopaholic hits theaters February 13. This weekend she answered questions about the movie and a little bit about her own shopping habits. Here are some highlights:
On playing the role using her clown training: "I trained at a theatre school called Jacques Lecoq in Paris . . . and we focus on comedy de l’arte and bouffant and mime, so technically I definitely learned a skill-set, but just personally I’ve always been someone who loves to tap into their inner-idiot and I’ve always been the clown of my family, and I think I’ve always just enjoyed, you know, mucking about, and I’m just fortunate that I get paid to do that now."
On shopping vs. men: "No, I shop rarely and poorly. I definitely appreciate men more than stores."
On what she can't pass by: "There’s nothing really material that I can’t pass by. Maybe underwear. . . Just out of necessity, just in general underwear. It’s not such a good look, not having underwear."
On playing comedic roles: "You know, I have to say, I love comedy, I love, just you know I love the freedom that comedy brings, but I’m open to working with any filmmakers. It’s all about the story and the character for me rather than the genre."
On the Confessions part: "I was a huge fan of the books. I had read them all long before I heard about the project, and when I heard about the project and that Jerry Bruckheimer was producing it, obviously who I was a huge fan of, I didn’t think in my wildest dreams, that I would even get a meeting, let alone get the role. I literally still cannot believe I got the role. It’s very exciting for me."
Rebecca Bloomwood's outfits will light up the screen, but it will be Isla who brings her to life. We know she's got the comedic talent for a hit so hopefully everything goes smoothly for Isla's biggest role yet.
As the plot of The City heats up, MTV announced they are renewing Whit's show for a second season. Last night's episode brought us our usual dose of drama, gadgets, and fashion, which we've come to expect from The Hills spinoff. We are starting to get hooked on The City ourselves but tell us — are you excited that it's coming back for a second season?
First Look: Jon Hamm on 30 Rock It seems like a match made in heaven: the year's most celebrated comedic TV actress and one of the most lauded dramatic actors who's also surprisingly funny, joining up for an episode of 30 Rock. I've been eagerly awaiting any information about Jon Hamm's guest appearance on the show, and now I've got good news: the first video clip of Hamm's appearance has arrived!
The Spring couture shows continued today in Paris with a few celebs on hand to take in the fashion fun. Keira Knightley looked a bit fancier than last week in her tweed pencil skirt as she showed off a new style of bangs alongside Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel presentation — here's a look at what he sent down the runways. Kanye West also chatted with Karl before moving on to see Christian Lacroix's offerings. They kept things a little more tame than Mischa did during her time in the city, but Kanye does have business to attend to while he's in France.
Halle Berry got herself a sweet treat while running errands in LA yesterday afternoon — it's never too early to start celebrating Valentine's Day with a gift for yourself. Her hair was pulled back and hidden under a baseball cap, but she's bid farewell to the short and curly 'do she sported for Frankie and Alice. Whether she's traveling or taking care of her baby Nahla, Halle always manages to look effortlessly put together.
At this point LAX knows when the cast of 30 Rock is coming through expect a few large metal objects to be hiding somewhere in their bags. After Sunday's SAG win, Tina kept her Actor out of plain view, but Tracy Morgan held his high and proud. The cast won for being the best ensemble and it looks like they travel in a pack as well — high fives and all. Hopefully they all spent Monday morning recovering because it was a late award night for some. Now it's back to work for the cast, with an extra spring in their step thanks to yet another win.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were at the Chateau Marmont in LA last night for Ellen's 51st birthday celebration. The couple looked happy to get the party started hand-in-hand as they headed into the event. In addition to getting a gift of bubble wrap from Amy Poehler yesterday, Ellen had one more special present on her big day — her TV program was nominated in the category of Outstanding Talk Show Episode at this year's GLAAD Media Awards. Ellen's no stranger to collecting accolades for her work, but receiving praise on her birthday must be an extra special treat.
Jenna Dewan walked down the street in Beverly Hills looking extremely chic and poised. Her structured white blazer framed her body perfectly, and paired well over her draped fringe Haute Hippie halter, denim leggings, and over-the-knee brown boots.
