After spending the weekend in Miami with his wife and daughters, Matt Damon was back in his original stomping ground, Boston, yesterday. He was there to speak at the Kennedy Presidential Library about his work in Haiti, though it's some other comments of his that have people talking this week. Not only did Matt call Bond a "repulsive" "sociopath" and more, but after recent political comments Damon has also been offered $10,000 to debate former NYT columnist Bill Kristol about the Iraq war. Sounds like a sticky subject but if anyone in Hollywood could hold their own in that forum, Matt would be the guy.
On Monday, a fairly unflattering set of photos of Jessica Simpson hit the Internet setting off a ton of unkind headlines mostly centered around her weight. While most of you agreed that her jeans were the biggest culprit and there's nothing wrong with a few curves, hopefully Jessica has stayed away. Her sister, on the other hand, hasn't and she took to her blog to write about how angry it makes her. Since Jessica seems happier than ever with Tony, maybe acknowledging the haters will only make it worse. Ashlee wrote:
Since when did a woman's weight become newsworthy...
I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.
All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard. Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend? I seriously doubt it. How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure? Now can we focus on the things that really matter.
So tell us — do you agree with Ashlee about Jessica's weight debate?
Yesterday Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt brought their whole family into Tokyo to much fanfare and providing some of the cutest photos and video of the family, including the new twins! This morning, however, Brad only had a comfy sweater and David Fincher to promote Benjamin Button. Now when we see Brad, it's hard not to think about his mini me Knox right down to the matching hats. While Brad is still hot — and it looks like the mustache is staying around? — we're hoping for another look at the family on their overseas adventure.
Jennifer Garner took a day off from the school run yesterday, instead spending time with her look-alike sister in LA. Ben also had some sister-in-law company while picking up Violet, a routine he opened up about over the weekend while promoting He's Just Not That Into You. He was asked about text messaging in relationships, saying, "I correspond with my wife that way. . . she's like, 'Get over here. Pick this sh*t up! It's time for you to go get our daughter!'" Ben was probably joking around because it certainly doesn't look like a chore picking up adorable Violet.
Matthew McConaughey was out for his usual jog near his Malibu home yesterday afternoon. He was accompanied on the run by his faithful dog, who seems as excited to run on pavement as he does on sand. The rest of his family took the morning off, but Matthew's dedication to staying in shape with his loyal buddy is what keeps his hot bod looking so fantastic.
Another day another Arizona Iced Tea for Shia LaBeouf who played around a little bit with the photographers snapping him in LA yesterday. While he's still in recovery and sporting a mini-cast, Shia seems to have a lot of time on his hands, as they say, and it's not like his old hobby of vintage cars is much fun now that his license has been taken away for a year. At least it looks like he still has some fun in his day to day.
Rihanna bundled up for her appearance on The Late Show and looked perfectly chic while waving to her New York fans. She kept things simple in all black but mixed patterns and textures to create a unique look.
