Renee Zellweger was all smiles and high hair last night at the Academy Theater in Beverly Hills for the premiere of her new movie, Appaloosa. There hasn't been too much buzz about the film, which opened in limited release yesterday — check out the trailer here — but the cast seems like a close bunch. Renee, Viggo Mortensen, and Ed Harris had nothing but kisses and hugs for each other joined by the Cox-Arquettes on the red carpet. Ed directed the movie and said when he met Renee he "fell in love with her." It must have been fun being one of the only girls on set in this western cowboy flick and looks like the actress got some good friends out of the deal.

Isla Fisher and Olive hit the swings again yesterday at the park in LA. The dual redheads looked happy as can be enjoying the end of Summer sun — though, living in LA it's not going far. It's been a pleasure watching the new mama enjoy life with her daughter whether or not Sacha comes along to complete the trio. We're not the only ones appreciating Isla — she's among the women who will be honored at Elle's 15th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute next month.

The cast of Gossip Girl was back to work in NYC yesterday, with a couple of furry friends to visit with between takes. Both Leighton and Blake were taking care of their adorable dogs, though their on-screen counterparts are too busy partying and scheming to make time for pets. As things continue to heat up for our Upper East Siders, we're already looking forward to seeing the cast make the transition into their fabulous Fall wardrobes — even without their real-life pooches as accessories.

Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn looked like twins in their black dresses and blue Lanvin shopping bags leaving a dinner party for the designer at Sir John Soane's Museum in London last night. With the two looking more and more alike these days, Kate landing herself on People's best dressed list this year has to have a little something to do with Goldie's influence. It's sweet that mom came to visit Kate while she's overseas to make Nine, but before we get to see that all-star cast, her new movie My Best Friend's Girl hits theaters this weekend. About making that one she said, "I finally got to swear and say and do certain things that most people say to each other in normal, everyday life. . . I got a little taste of what those Sex and the City girls were up to for so long, which was fun." While it doesn't seem like she not able to be herself, or is hurting for male companionship, sassy romantic comedy Kate is welcome on the big screen.

Tom Cruise arrived in NYC this week just in time for a day around the city with his girls before playing supportive husband at Katie's dress rehearsal yesterday evening in preparation for previews of All My Sons starting tonight. The happy couple waved, posed for fans and signed autographs after the play, while Tom couldn't look more proud of his wife on his arm. We'll probably be seeing a lot of Tom playing doting fan of Katie while she makes her Broadway debut this Fall — plus, since Suri's got practice sitting through theatre maybe she'll even check out mom up on stage.

Charlize Theron took advantage of the warm weather in New York with a little plaid dress she wore on The View yesterday before joining her man Stuart and costars for a screening of Battle in Seattle. Charlize always manages to look fabulous from the red carpet to the beach, and her efforts earned her a spot as one of People's 10 Best Dressed Stars of 2008. While we're not sure if we agree with some of the other honorees, Charlize's style continues to impress us even after the results are in.
