Nicole Richie's quick trip to Manhattan with Harlow and to check out New York Fashion Week was already over yesterday afternoon as she was back to traffic school in LA. Not quite as glamorous as front row watching the runway, but Nicole always manages to make her Starbucks and skinny jeans work. We're not the only ones noticing Nicole's traffic school diligence — yesterday the judge commended the starlet for her progress "in compliance" with her court order. A followup hearing is set for Feb. 20, 2009, and it looks like it should be easy for Nicole to stay out of trouble from now until then.

Looks like Violet had lots to say as her mom carried her back to the car after shopping in LA. The mother-daughter duo wore girly pink tops yesterday, and while Violet always puts a smile on Jen's face, the latest list might not make her so happy. Jennifer Garner scored the No. 2 spot on the Forbes Hollywood's Most Overpaid Movie Stars, second only to Nicole Kidman. Even if Jennifer's movies aren't always huge box office hits, she's got devoted fans in Ben, Violet, and the upcoming Garner-Affleck addition.

Rachel McAdams looked radiant and boho chic at the Toronto Film Festival premiere of The Lucky Ones last night. She arrived solo in the late Summer dusk, but I'd like to think that Mr. Gosling has a little something to do with that big smile of hers. Ever since the amazing photos of them back together kissing at lunch we've been waiting for our next McAdams/Gosling moment, which joins The Time Traveler's Wife on the list of things we're excited to see from Rachel.

Some of our favorite small screen actors — and at least one high profile TV guest star — stepped out at Madison Square Garden last night for Dave Matthews Band's concert as part of the Stand Up For A Cure series. Fresh from a day filming Ugly Betty Lindsay Lohan posed on the red carpet before watching Samantha Ronson DJ the pre-show. Julia Roberts introduced the main act to an audience including some of the Gossip Girl kids like Chace Crawford, Jessica Szohr and Nicole Fiscella, as well as the always-endearing Damien Fahey among others. While I imagine big events like this are still bittersweet for the band who recently lost a member, they performed the night away to raise money for lung cancer research.

Madonna went all out for her big 50th birthday bash, but her husband Guy's 40th yesterday was a little more low key. The couple, along with Lourdes, Rocco, and David took their celebration to the Punchbowl, the pub that they own in Mayfair. They were joined by a few friends, but Madonna and the kids cut out a bit early and left the late night partying to the birthday boy whose RocknRolla opened at No. 1 in the UK box office over the weekend. Madonna has one more show in London tonight before heading off around the world on her Sticky and Sweet tour, which is perfect timing to be able to celebrate her husband's b-day with her family before hitting the road.

Reese Witherspoon's boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal wasn't around, but she had her substitute workout buddy — his dog Atticus — for a walk around LA yesterday. While Jake's been off all Summer long filming Prince of Persia overseas there's nothing like having his furry buddy around to keep him on her mind. Now that it's back to school time for the kids, Reese has even more time to keep fit and enjoy that LA sunshine until she has to start getting in the holiday spirit hopefully with her beefy man back in town.
