Mary-Kate Olsen went for two different looks yesterday but kept her teeny jean shorts on to beat the heat in LA. She traded her standard large coffee cup for a smartwater, but even mixing up her choice of beverage wasn't enough to put a smile on her face. Maybe Miss MK just had a few important matters on her brain — like dealing with an annoying legal suit involving her former landlord.

The stars of The Dark Knight came out early in Tokyo this morning to keep the Batman mania going overseas. Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal showed off their smiles, while Aaron Eckhart looked a little serious after the big premiere last night. As usual, Christian made sure to pay homage to his dear friend Heath Ledger, saying, "I enjoyed very much our first scene together . . . because it was the first time I got to see what Heath was really going to do . . . Also, you could see how much he got [by] playing this character. He really got satisfaction out of it." With his tragic passing still fresh in our minds, it's beautiful to see that Heath is very much a part of one of the last movies he poured his heart into.

This weekend, Shia LaBeouf disappointed us with his idiotic and scary car accident and arrest on suspicion of DUI. Most of you don't think he'll learn his lesson, but at least one witness account says that after being told to flee the scene, Shia knew he needed to stick around and deal with the consequences. In a oddly well-timed newly released interview with Details, Shia reveals how using drinking to bond with his father had already taught him about his own substance control issues. He said:

"We would drink together and smoke together . . . and it's just a bad deal. It's not something that is conducive to being a role model—no iconic actors that I know of have problems like that. And I don't know how to do it like a gentleman. I don't know how to have one drink."
Shia's unconventional upbringing always seems to have left him with some complexes — hence his ability to get arrested for just about anything — and, underneath his cute exterior, a little troubled.
Thankfully, Shia is currently recovering from surgery, and neither his passenger, Transformers 2 costar Isabel Lucas, nor the driver of the other car were badly injured. I sincerely hope that Shia does learn from his big mistake and somehow manages to deal with his own possible demons in the process.

Ashlee Simpson traded in her maxi dresses for a pretty little white number out to lunch at Chin Chin in LA with a friend yesterday. While Ashlee's original plan for the Summer involved a club tour to support Bittersweet World, she canceled that and seems happy as can be to spend some downtime enjoying her pregnancy home in the LA area. Now maybe she could find a moment to get her rapidly growing puppy Rigby a leash.

Ashton Kutcher took his coffee to go after grabbing lunch with two young friends in LA on Sunday. Beyond being a big kid at heart, Ashton has Demi's three girls to look after these days, so he's a pro at dealing with teenagers. Plus, with his new game show, Opportunity Knocks, coming our way, Ashton is more of a family man than ever. This time he'll be making us laugh from behind the scenes with some wholesome fun rather than those infamous pranks.
