While the red carpet was sunny and colorful in LA last night, the real fun was reserved for the Shrine Auditorium stage at the BET Awards. Some of the best performances of the night were from our young familiar faces like Chris Brown and Rihanna as well as some old favorites like Alicia Keys alongside En Vogue and TLC (minus Left Eye). How cute was it seeing Chris/Rihanna singing along with each other's performances from the audience? Love it. Kanye has said that he's done having tantrums over award shows (though that does not go for everything), but luckily last night he didn't have to walking away with two statues — check out all the winners here. Along with lots of Obama love, Fergie helped close out the show with Nelly her fellow pa-pa-pa-pa-party person before hitting what I'm sure was the real fun at all the after show soirées.

Britney Spears went straight from court to shopping at Fred Segal yesterday — hey, she got all cleaned up, might as well enjoy it with a day out. She didn't have any smiles for the camera, but it sounds like she wasn't afraid to flash a few of them on her way out of her hearing earlier in the day where she was granted overnight visitation with her boys. Between that big court decision and becoming an aunt to Jamie Lynn's new daughter, it's been quite a week for Miss Brit — now that shopping isn't a daily (and sometimes nightly) event, seems like a good enough reward.
No two outfits were alike last night on the red carpet of the BET Awards. There were a variety of colors and lengths that showed off some serious stems and beautiful curves. The men were more laid back in sneakers and polos but there were a few cuties like Chris Brown who stood out from the crowd. Jennifer Hudson showed off her new bob while Alicia went from curly to straight and shocking in pink. Always a favorite and unpredictable, Rihanna showed up in a stunning yellow dress. Paris Hilton and Benji Madden made some serious purchases at the Apple store in West Hollywood yesterday, lucky kids. Geek is all over the breakdown of what they bought, but no matter what there's nothing like having some shiny new toys to play with. At least this is one purchase that she won't have to defend herself about and after her latest puppy rumor debacle can't blame her for seeking out some more controversy free companionship (what, you don't consider computers companions?). Plus, there's nothing like the video chat so she can feel like she has Benji by her side for the (very few) times when they can't actually be attached at the hip.
The stars of Hancock swung by TRL in NYC yesterday to ham it up for MTV. Will Smith and Charlize Theron had a little fun at Jason Bateman's expense, but that sounds like the hardest time she's willing to give anyone. She recently said, "I'm lazy and to be a diva takes a lot of energy and so that's why I don't do it. . . it's a lot of work to be a diva. People forget. It's hard to yell at people and it's really hard to hit them. If I had more energy I would do it." One place she hasn't seemed lazy recently is her stunning red carpet premiere looks.
Jenna Dewan walked down the street in Beverly Hills looking extremely chic and poised. Her structured white blazer framed her body perfectly, and paired well over her draped fringe Haute Hippie halter, denim leggings, and over-the-knee brown boots.
