Jessica Simpson stepped up to the mic along with some of country music's biggest names to help kick off the 2008 CMA Music Festival in Nashville last night. Of course, Jess is no stranger to the stage, but there have to be some big-time nerves showcasing her new material to an audience who already has lots of preconceived notions about her. Considering the warm reception you all gave "Come on Over," hopefully it all went over great. Either way, she did it with a big old smile on her face, as did fellow blonde performers like Kellie Pickler, Jewel, and Taylor Swift. Jess will be taking her show to The View on June 25, which is just the beginning of promotion for the new album. Looks like we better get used to Jessica Simpson: country darling.

Carrie Underwood slipped into uniform and stepped up to the plate alongside some of her fellow country stars for the 18th annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge on Wednesday. She played tough before the game, saying, "I’ve got a lot of practice with a bat one way or another the last couple years." Unfortunately, Carrie's confidence wasn't enough to lead her team to victory, but she still looked cute as a button running the bases. Tonight we'll get to see her flex her more famous muscles — those vocal cords — singing at the 2008 CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

The couple that dyes together stays together? Mandy Moore and her alt country man Ryan Adams showed off similar shades of amber hair out for a walk in NYC together yesterday. It seems like Mandy's got her man all smitten with her (and probably writing a song or hundred about it), but are you? Britney spent Wednesday with her boys, who even let mommy go for a spin in their baby Escalade. After cruising the driveway for a while, she was off to the studio to shoot her part in the Pussycat Dolls video. Now that we've got a little more info about her appearance, it sounds like we shouldn't hold our breath to see Brit's dance moves — apparently she just waves to the Dolls as they drive by Brit in her car. On the bright side, the word is that Brit looks hot even if it's just a quick cameo.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson took their black jeans and prominent roots for a little stop at the Hermes boutique in LA yesterday. Mmm, sounds like the right kind of shopping trip. It looks like Lindsay got herself a little something to take home, perhaps a reward for herself since she's getting back to work at the end of the weekend. Production starts Monday on Labor Pains, the indie comedy we heard she was going to be starring in a while back. Considering her recent luck in the movie business, this is good news for LL so hopefully she can actually stick this one out. You know, while we wait for her amazing album to drop.
