John Mayer looked like the life of the party — especially in the eyes of a cracking up Jennifer Aniston — visiting the Cox-Arquettes' Malibu home on Sunday. For some people it's all about meeting the parents, but considering the friendship between Jennifer and Courteney, we have to imagine that Cox's opinion about her BFF's new man matters as much as anyone's. The Cox-Arquettes have been hosting their weekly Sunday dinners of family and friends for years now, and it has to be an honor for John to be scoring the invite. While I hope that some West Coast time gives John the chance to show off those boogie-boarding skills to his bikini-loving girlfriend, just seeing that he's becoming a part of her life and routine is big enough.
Everyone is still buzzing about last night's MTV Movie Awards, and from the fab goody bag (win one here!) to the beauty and fashion to the winners, there's definitely lots to discuss. The show was packed with performances and skits, some of which cracked us up while others fell flat. We had our special favorites from the night but tell us, which part did you like the best?
Kim Cattrall Showing Skin at HBO Again
While the Sex and the City movie is smashing box office records, it seems like a good time for Kim Cattrall to plot her next move. And plot she is, with today's news that the alter ego of one Samantha Jones will produce and star in a new HBO comedy.
While Britney Spears was busy completing her usual workout at Ballys over the weekend, her dad Jamie was taking care of business. Jamie cancelled her deal with the Danish businessman Claus Hjelmbak to promote a line of imported furniture because he suspected that Claus was just using Britney for publicity. Since she still isn't able to legally act on her own behalf, it's great that Jamie seems to be making decisions that are in Brit's best interest. Plus, she's got lots of other projects in the pipeline, so it sounds like this is one she can afford to skip out on.
We already saw Angelina Jolie's Vanity Fair cover starring her cleavage, but now we've got a look inside the issue. Angie plays it up with different wigs, but there's also no shortage of sex appeal from these photos. In the issue, she doesn't seem to hold anything back about her kids, her relationship with Brad, and how she's been affected by her mother's death. Here are highlights:
On her relationship with Brad: “People have made a lot out of it that we’re not. But we both have been married before, and it’s very easy to get married, but it’s not easy to build a family and be parents together. And maybe we’ve done it backwards, but we certainly feel married.”
On naming her daughter Shiloh: “It’s a biblical name, but we didn’t name her for that. It was a name my parents almost named their first child—there was a miscarriage: Shiloh Baptist. Because my father had been shooting in Georgia and that was the most southern name [my parents] could come up with. It’s a name I always liked. I used to go under it in hotels: Shiloh Baptist. I’d gone under it when [Brad] called hotel rooms where I was staying.”
On her mother's passing: "When [my mother] passed, I realized that somebody who lives life with that kind of dedication to their family is the most noble. I was aware of it growing up. I admired her. And I loved her. But in her passing she reminded me what matters. And what’s most fun—to put yourself aside for these other little people you’re raising.”
On religion: “Brad got me this great thing for Christmas. It’s a bookshelf that has a book on every religion. That’s how we plan to raise our kids. Teach them about all religions. They can pick one or be a student of all of them. We’ll celebrate Kwanzaa for our girl. We’ll celebrate moon and water festivals for our boys. We’ll take them to temples in certain countries. Also to church.”

Casa Interview: Sex and the City's Jeremy Conway I was recently lucky enough to chat with Sex and the City production designer Jeremy Conway. While many of my Sugar friends were wowed by the clothing in the movie, I was blown away by the sets. I was particularly excited about Carrie's apartment makeover.
Jennifer Garner was back to work filming This Side of the Truth in Massachusetts this weekend, but afterwards it was time for Violet. The adorable twosome took a walk through the neighborhood, and Jen played with Violet's long hair (she's getting so big!) as her little one showed her mom the sights. Violet is looking like her mother's daughter in her comfy cozy sweat pants but still has a little bit of a flare in her cute trendy coat. The Violet sightings have been few and far between these days, and with the family separated with Ben overseas, we're hoping they all reunite in LA soon for some daily trips to the farmers market.
Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
