Rather than stay home and watch herself on How I Met Your Mother last night, Britney Spears spent her evening at the gym. I, on the the hand, was glued to the TV set, and it sounds like you were all planning to be there too. While Britney's part was definitely bigger and she did have some funny moments, the whole plot seemed a bit unnecessary and contrived — you know, not that most sitcom plots aren't. However, there is something amazing — or shall I say legendary — about seeing Britney and NPH pretending to be a couple. Judging from the ambiguous ending, that may not be the last we see of innocent Abby — and the show's creator confirmed that the door is left open for another appearance. In March we got a peek at Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth at work on this Annie Leibovitz photoshoot, and now here's the gorgeous final product! The duo shot this spread for June Vogue, and judging from how much chemistry they have, it wasn't hard for these two to get back into their Sex and the City characters for the photos. In the issue, SJP discusses fashion, style, and one of the few things she and Carrie Bradshaw have in common. Here are highlights:
On how she is similar to Carrie: "We will both try anything. I will try anything for Carrie, and I will try anything for me. In real life I never dressed the way she dressed, nor would I. I grew up in a house of matching. You know, our hair ribbons matched our dress, and our pinafore matched our socks. You didn't clash colors. What I learned by being around Pat Field was there shouldn't be rules in fashion. Things shouldn't go together. And that's the thing that really changed in my own world and the way I choose to dress."
On being trendy: "Aren't we all supposed to be a little bit the victim of trends? I can look back at pictures of myself with the great assurance that I will be embarrassed by about 60 percent of them. This is the nature of fashion—admiring the wrong girl, you know, looking at the wrong picture, wishing you were somebody else. And that's the developmentally correct thing."
On Carrie's style: "I would wear anything as Carrie Bradshaw if I thought it would be good for the story. The bits and pieces, and the stuff people object to. And that's Carrie—hits and misses mean nothing to her."
Jay-Z flashed that big newlywed smile we've grown to love so much as he stepped out of Butter in NYC last night. His bride Beyonce skipped the night out on the town amid whispers that there may be a reason for her to lay low on the partying — those pregnancy rumors are heating up. While the story is apparently stemming from weight gain without doing the usual "Def Jam Detox", her rep responded to the story saying, "I don't know if she's pregnant. Let me perform an ultrasound and get back to you." Not quite a denial. So what do you think about the rumors — is Beyonce pregnant?
Victoria Beckham looked all serious as she headed to a meeting in London yesterday. Hopefully she got to mix business with pleasure, since it would be a shame if this fashionable mom had to spend her Mother's Day working the whole time. The boys were back home with David but we bet they did something sweet for their mum even if they weren't together. On the bright side, there was warm weather to be enjoyed so the sun is one less thing Posh has to miss while she's overseas.
Mandy Moore and her man Ryan Adams got a little touchy out around LA yesterday. Back in March we reported the rumor that Mandy and Ryan were an item, but haven't heard much about it since. Now, the couple (sure?) was spotted out shopping at a comic store and vintage guitar shop. Adams recently chronicled his hair-bleaching experience via his now defunct blog, but I'm not sure it's his greatest look. Maybe his adorable lady friend can help him fix those locks before their next adventure. It was a mini new mama convention in the front row of the Christian Dior Cruise 2009 Collection in NYC last night. Both J Lo and Christina Aguilera were all done up and out with their hubbies — though it looks like it may have tuckered Xtina out. Bringing some more bright colors into the mix were Charlize Theron and Leighton Meester. Speaking of Blair Waldorf, how dramatic was Gossip Girl last night? It all seemed a bit too tidy with Serena's big secret, but that's why we love our teen dramas. Leighton is clearly playing with the big fashion names these days, but we expect nothing less from our GG darlings.
