Natalie Portman is still rolling solo out promoting The Other Boleyn Girl. Seriously, what did Scarlett do to get out of this leg of the tour? Nat stopped by Letterman last night to talk about horseback riding and how hard it was to go to the bathroom when she was in costume — good times, check out the video after the jump. Even more exciting, however, is that my overseas counterpart PopSugar UK got to see Natalie, Scarlett and Eric Bana in person and quiz them a little about the movie. So much for the best season of Idol ever. Last night was another letdown. I still heart Brooke. The song, her voice, her look, and her banter with Simon are all adorable. Also love the modesty — not from Simon, from Brooke of course. Other winners were Carly and Ramiele. The rest were just whatever. I'm not buying Kristy Lee Cook's attempt to be wholesome. Amanda needs to stop trying too hard. The hair and outfit were painful to look at and should we really reward someone who simply sounds like she smokes three packs of cigarettes a day? Oh and need I mention the DUI?

Asia'h's the closing number was just a mistake. She was not impressive, and it was embarrassing. Apparently the flu is still causing problems, but what's going to be the excuse next week? It's not all soccer, soccer, soccer for David Beckham overseas. As usual, he took some time off the playing field today to promote the Motorola RAZR2 while in South Korea. He fielded some questions and posed looking like a Ken Doll with the phone. These days it feels like Becks spends as much time in front of a microphone as he does on the playing field and with his family combined, but at least he fulfills his professional duties with a smile on his face. Maybe next time he could spice up his promotional duties by learning a move or two from his son Cruz?

Ashlee Simpson stopped by The Sauce in NYC yesterday to talk about her new album, but she also revealed the meaning behind that ring she's been wearing. In January her rep denied that she and Pete are engaged, but that doesn't mean her jewelry has nothing to do with her boy — turns out, Pete gave Ash a promise ring. She said, "It just means that he hasn't asked my dad yet . . . " Sound like things are serious and if we're lucky maybe she and Jessica can double up for a Simpson family extravaganza.

Jessica Alba left the glam at the Oscars and made her way through LAX solo (except for her friendly videographer) last night. Jessica is one of those girls who always seems to be complaining about being awkward and unpopular as a kid, but somehow I'm still hard pressed to believe it. She recently contributed to a book of essays by female celebrities called If I'd Known Then about just that. In her piece Jessica talks about being labeled "a slut" by PTA moms when she had a big chest at a young age and how to deal with teenage guys. She says, "Boys are awful. They are made of nothing but hormones until they're about 20 or 21 . . . It's fun to have a crush, but don't think it's forever . . . And use birth control and condoms, please." No comment.
