The stars were scattered all over the map this weekend, between the Grammys and the BAFTAs, but yet another set of celebs headed to Germany for the 58th Berlinale International Film Festival. Ryan Reynolds showed his pretty face and his co-star Hayden Panettiere glittered in gold to represent their movie Fireflies in the Garden. As always, Penelope is beautiful in black, there for her film Elegy while Diane Kruger looked stunning and thrilled to be on the red carpet on her home turf. The festival will be going on all week, and we can't wait to see who else comes out to shine and show off their new movies.
While we loved seeing all the ladies and men on the red carpet at the Grammys, as always some were at the bottom of the barrel. Carrie Underwood won you over for best dressed, but who deserves the honor of worst dressed of the night?
Ryan Phillippe really bares all (get it? Because he's not wearing a shirt here) in the March issue of W magazine. Somber and contemplative manjoyment Monday. He's out promoting Stop Loss and he is careful to say that he and his costar Miss Abbie Cornish are just really good friends. Plus, the whole situation was both more complex and more everyday than anyone has made it out to be. Ryan's obviously been through a lot over the past couple of years and at the end of the day, he's ready to talk about it. Here are highlights:
On his career: “The idea of being a movie star is less appealing than being an actor. I think a movie star tends to be representative of a certain type of film that has to be palatable, maybe genre-specific, and is not that high-risk. There is a safe association with it.”
On his relationship with Abbie: “She and I are close friends, and as far as if there is any future, that is not where we are at now. That is what other people like to say or like to assume. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a friendship, and we are getting to know each other in a really difficult situation.”
On Abbie being labeled the "other woman": “First of all, I wouldn’t answer that, but I would say that things are never as simple as it’s made out to be in the tabloid press. It was unfair for her to be called the names that she was, because it wasn’t about that. I don’t think an outside person can ever cause a divorce. I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her.”

It may have been a looong Grammy Awards, but it was only more reason to keep the party going after the show ended. The stars got to mix and mingle with their fellow musicians at the Sony BMG Party, making for some predictable (and a few unlikely) pairings. Nicole and Joel were looking a little worn out, while Beyonce was practically glowing in yellow next to John Mayer, making her fourth outfit change of the night. Which B outfit was your favorite? Also, is it just us, or did John look a little too pretty-boy last night? Carrie Underwood naturally gravitated toward country star Brad Paisley, while Jay-Z looked absolutely thrilled to be posing with Chris Daughtry. We just wish we could eavesdrop on a few of their conversations, although something tell us that Amy Winehouse's performance was a hot topic across the board.
Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo were back to the warm weather and beach wear this weekend, though the trip to Hawaii wasn't just vacation good times for the happy couple. Tony was in town to play in the Pro Bowl yesterday afternoon — rough life, right? It looks like Jess was happy to accompany her man on the "business trip." I gotta say that these two are totally growing on me. While in town for the game, Tony and his teammate Terrell Owens sat down to chat with a FOX sportswriter. Of course, Miss Simpson came up. Here's what the boys had to say:
Marvez: Tony, how do you have to change your life now because of all the attention your relationship with Jessica is getting? Owens: "I think he's in way over his head." Romo: "(Smiling) Definitely not. I don't read the stuff like everyone else does, so it doesn't affect me. If I were to watch and read everything that is written and said, as a human being it would probably be difficult...I came to an understanding a little while back that no one is going to remember me in five or seven years anyway so let them talk and say what they want to say. In seven years, I'm going to be off doing whatever and living normal so it's like, 'Work hard. Try to do things right in life and forget about the rest of the junk.'"
How about Mr. Modesty? While I think that Tony may be selling himself short there, he does seem like a total sweetheart. I may be the only one, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed things keep working out with him and Jess. Maybe next season she'll even be welcome back in the stands? Yeah, we'll see.
The Garner-Afflecks took their trio of cuteness to a whole new level at a pet store in LA on Saturday. Violet is absolutely precious snuggling up to those puppies and kittens, but we can't say we're surprised since this girl has been quite the animal lover for a while now. Her parents were also adding to the warm fuzzy moment by throwing a little PDA our way — nothing scandalous but a few public kisses and hugs are more than we usually see from them. Seems like a new dog or cat would be welcome in this family, especially if they find a new home with a big yard to chase Violet around in.
Nicky Hilton makes dressing for transition weather look so easy! Waiting for her car at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, she wore a trendy and chic ensemble consisting of a gray blazer, a simple black tank, denim cut offs and platform booties.
