Reese Witherspoon shows off her serious side (can't you tell from the photos?!) in the February issue of Marie Claire, putting away her trademark smile to talk about her charity work. Awww, cheer up, Reese! Over the Summer, Reese was named the first-ever Avon Global Ambassador, which is a topic near and dear to her heart these days and something she wants to talk about, but she also got in some nice words about her new co-star Vince, too. Here's more:
On taking on the role of Avon Ambassador: The Avon Foundation has been hugely active in the fight against breast cancer — and also in the areas of domestic violence and disaster relief. I went to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and it was devastating to see how underserved those communities are. I'm looking forward to helping raise money and awareness for those causes. In fact, over the years, I've been approached by many companies to support their brands or products, but I've never felt as inspired as when I met the people from Avon — I feel like they've given me an opportunity to connect to women in a very personal way.
On Vince: "I’ve been a big fan of his for so many years. Vince is one of the only actors working today who makes me laugh in every movie I see him in. Working with him has been a great experience for me, a real exercise in always staying on my toes comedically. I laugh every day at work!"
That makes both her and Vince who are super complimentary of each other, but I wonder if these interviews were conducted before the rumors of on-set trouble. In the interview she also talks about her upcoming movie Penelope, which looks totally weird, don't you think?
These days all Katie Holmes seems to want to talk about is her amazing marriage and family life. While we understand being a gushing mom, especially when it comes to sweet Suri, lately it all feels a little repetitive. At the Glamour V Day Luncheon yesterday, Katie talked more about her little one, calling Suri, "a very strong woman" and "magical." So tell us — is Katie just a loving mom or is she going over the top?
Ashlee Simpson showed off a new darker hair color to go with her all-black ensemble in LA yesterday. It's not as drastic as the black hair she sported back in the days of The Ashlee Simpson Show, but her new color will definitely set her apart from Jessica again. Personally we're already missing her wavy blonde hair, but many of you voted light brown as the best look for Ashlee. How are you feeling about her deep-reddish color?
Beyonce walked straight out of a '90s workout video and out to dinner with Jay-Z in NYC last night. B was also showing off a darker 'do to go with her badass look. Their usual companion these days Kanye let the two have a date night, but hopefully we'll see the trio together again soon. I love the idea of the three superstars just hanging out and playing Connect Four. Maybe Kanye sat this one out because he couldn't tear himself away from his computer — he's been keeping himself super busy with his blogging these days.
Bale and Depp Are Public Enemies Does it really get much better than this duo? I think not. Variety is reporting today that Christian Bale will play opposite Johnny Depp in the crime movie Public Enemies. Michael Mann (Last of the Mohicans, Heat) will direct.
David Beckham's dapper suit helped him fit right in while rubbing elbows with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in London yesterday. Becks showed the PM around his soccer academy after having a meeting with him earlier in the week. The always polite Beckham was honored to give the political figure a tour, and said he was "incredibly proud to have the prime minister visit and recognize the success of the academy." Both men are such superpowers overseas and it's always wonderful when celebrities and politics can work together, and on that note — welcome CitizenSugar!
The Golden Globes may not be going on as hoped, but that doesn't mean that the swag suites will all go to waste. Some — sorry guys — not-so-A-Listers were out in LA yesterday at the Kari Feinstein Winter Style Lounge to get their hands on some of the free stuff. Some of the first in line included Entourage's Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rex Lee, and Jeremy Piven. Chuck's Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez brought a whole new level of meaning to posing fiercely in their fur vests. I'm sure they took those bad boys home. I'm thinking that most of the actual nominees who are boycotting the awards won't be swooping in to snag the swag, but who knows, perhaps the draw of free free free is too much to bear for some.
Meanwhile, Lauren Conrad made sure to be seen posing with the goods — she's never one to miss an event after all. Check out the video after the jump where she, Whitney, and Audrina respond to the rumors that Kristin Cavallari is joining The Hills.

Norma Lewis (Cameron Diaz) looks pretty heated in this scene from The Box while chatting with husband Arthur Lewis (James Marsden), but she still manages to look classy and put together. She smartly ties a leopard print silk scarf around her neck to give this gray sweater dress a hint of color, while her black tights and simple booties effortlessly complete the look.
