Casey Affleck perfected his smoldering stare on the red carpet for the LA Confidential party last night in honor of his magazine cover. The adorably smug actor made some big waves this year with his performances in Gone Baby Gone and The Assassination of Jesse James, and he's got the award nominations to show for it, snagging a nod for a Golden Globe, a SAG award, and an Oscar among all the other board award recognitions. In the article, Casey strays from the wisecracking smartass we've come to know and instead gets serious about making his family his number one priority and what projects he has in the works. Here are highlights:
On getting attention for his nominations and new baby: It doesn’t feel so much that way . . . life just goes on. As your family grows, they wind up being the center of attention. More than anything, I’ve gotten a lot of phone calls of congratulations, which is nice.
On Aardvark's Art Ark, the animated film he wrote and will executive produce: I just really like those kinds of movies. There ought to be more adult films that are animated — not just kids’ movies. There are really great things you can’t do with live action. Every year Pixar comes out with one of my favorite movies. . . . My project is intended for kids and adults. I’m really excited to be developing it with Warner Bros. I’d heard nightmare stories, but this has been great. It started as a story I was telling to my son and nephews. . . . It happened fast and was fun to do. It’s nice to write and not think about wanting to act in it or direct it.
As much as we love Ben, it seems like Casey is the Affleck to watch right now. Even so, we'll be looking forward to seeing both brothers on the red carpet at the SAG Awards and (hopefully) at the Academy Awards next month. P.S. According to Star Magazine, Angelina and Brad are back to work on expanding their family again, and in a big way. The magazine is reporting that Angie is pregnant with twins and has already canceled an upcoming trip to Europe. Speculation started when a fuller, more boobalicious Jolie showed up at the Critics Choice Awards a few weeks ago, but Star is not necessarily the most reliable source, so tell us — do you believe that Angelina is pregnant?

Jessica Alba jetted from LA to Sundance and back last week, but she was already departing for a new location yesterday, and from the looks of it she was headed for frosty temperatures again. This mommy-to-be has kept busy during her pregnancy, and staying on-the-go probably helps keep that pregnancy weight down, which Jessica is a little concerned about along with her fear of breastfeeding. We've seen her spending a lot of time at the gym but hopefully Jessica is also taking some advantage of the joys of pregnancy by indulging in her cravings.
Lindsay Lohan realized that the winter(ish) weather in LA called for more than her leggings could offer and traded them in for some jeans on her way home in the rain yesterday afternoon. She kept it summer-throwback, however, still rocking the Wayfarers. Wait a minute — is her hair kinda red again? That's awesome. While she certainly wasn't showing the paparazzi any smiles, I can't say I blame her after the sad news earlier this week. Rumor has it that she had plans to see Heath in New York today, but she stayed back in LA.
Brit's deposition is very slow going, according to Kevin's lawyers, which means Britney has a lot more questions to answer. In the meantime, she's busy using the pay phones (not sure what's wrong with the phone in her hand) and shopping at Rite Aid with her old assistant, who we thought she just fired. It's hard to keep track anymore. Later that night she headed to 24 Hour Fitness at 1:30 a.m. to work out for two hours... because you know, that's normal. Apparently a much thinner Britney is working on something really special for her fans in her new video, "Hot as Ice."
