Penelope and Monica Cruz were out in LA yesterday doing what sisters do best — shopping at Barneys. It looks like Monica was focused on headgear, but perhaps this hat in particular is not her most flattering. Meanwhile, Penelope's boyfriend Javier Bardem is raking in the acting nominations and wins for his outstanding work in No Country For Old Men, including a Golden Globe win for best supporting actor on Sunday and a BAFTA nomination yesterday. Hopefully we'll get at least one glamorous Penelope on the arm of her man as award season (and his winning season) rolls shakily on.
Cashmere Mafia Rundown: Episode 3, "Dangerous Liaisons" Since we're sadly lacking Gossip Girl for our Wednesday night scandal fix, I'm going to try recapping Cashmere Mafia for a while. Yeah, I know it's been a little disappointing so far, but hey, it's a scripted series that's still airing new episodes! Plus, there are only four episodes left after this one, so it's a pretty low commitment. Anyone with me?
If Demi Moore is trying to prove that she's not too old to compete with Hollywood's young blood, she's definitely doing a good job of it by posing in a bikini for V magazine. She may have had "some" work done, but she looks pretty damn good and certainly not her age of 45. In the article, Demi talks about everything from her family to Britney to trying to keep up the appearance of looking young. Here are highlights:
On making her relationship with Ashton work: "It wasn't automatic or easy. It took diligence and effort and even enduring awkwardness, and a lot of general giving on my part and Bruce's part. And really, tremendously, on Ashton's part. Coming into my life, Ashton just wasn't meeting somebody that had baggage. You know, I had trunks!"
On her daughter, Rumer, attracting media attention: "It's a little bit scary. It's hard to say no to curious teenagers when exciting events or things are happening. You can't live in a bubble. A key thing, and I've said this before, is to try to help your children be good decision makers."
On Britney Spears: "No one has seen it worse than Britney Spears. How can anyone see that and think that's an okay way to expect anybody to live, no matter where they're at in their life?"

The cops were making arrests surrounding Britney Spears last night, but thankfully the pop tart herself wasn't one of the people carted away. Instead, eight paparazzi were pulled over (along with Britney herself, who did have a valid California license and was let go), four of whom were arrested for driving erratically while trying to stay on top of her bizarre night out. At about 11 p.m., Britney headed out grocery stopping with Sam, where she told the paparazzi that the mystery pregnancy test was for a friend (um, someone's been watching Gossip Girl). Then, around 2 a.m. . . . she decided she wanted to go shopping at Kitson, so of course she had the store open up for her.

A painting of Stephen Colbert will hang in the National Portrait Gallery for six weeks, right by the bathroom in the hall of presidents, after he impressed the museum's director with his hacky-sack skills (or "sack work", as he called it). He might not be running for president, but continuing to entertain us during a bleak TV season is also very important. — AP

On Monday we got the video that featured Tom Cruise getting very passionate about Scientology. He received the Freedom Medal of Valor Award at the International Association of Scientologists and now we have more videos from that event for your viewing enjoyment. Watch the first video where Tom makes his acceptance speech for his Freedom Medal and salutes LRH, and after the jump he explains how he helped fireman and New York City with the aftermath of 9/11, claiming that he helped the detoxification process when the EPA could not. Do you still think he's going too far or is he just really enthusiastic about his beliefs?

Kate Moss kept her birthday bash starstruck and astrally covered, quite literally with her outfit and makeup, partying with her friends at a club last night. While I thought her four-event 34th b-day celebration ended back at her place, it looks like some of her guests are worse for the wear after this leg. I'm looking at you, Kelly Osbourne. I'm loving the face paint though (and those curly locks on Kate). Also fun? Presents! Thankfully Kate had her man Jamie by her side to carry hers out as she waltzed into her awaiting car at the end of the night. Happy Birthday Kate! Here's to a few days of relaxation and recovery.
