Jessica Simpson wrapped herself up in a blanket and put away her frown for another afternoon out shopping in Dallas yesterday. Yeah, she's not one to be grumpy when she's exercising her credit cards. Say what you will about her ability to jinx a sports team, but she is looking great these days. Plus she's back to those long, blonde locks we remember from her Newlyweds days, which is also by far your favorite hair look of her many this year. Hopefully Jessica has her thick skin and stiff upper lip ready if she's planning on flying to North Carolina to watch Tony Romo play this weekend, because if this RuinRomo campaign goes anywhere she'll see a lot of herself being mocked in the stands. Seems unnecessarily nasty to me, but whatever.

Jake Gyllenhaal had his twenty-seventh birthday on Wednesday (happy belated!) but his celebration doesn't look quite as much fun as Brad Pitt's was the day before. Instead, Jakey G was hard at work on the set of his new movie Brothers in New Mexico. We're hoping that he'll have a few more loved ones by his side for the holidays next week — whether it be with his sister in NYC or his girlfriend in LA or maybe as one big happy family with both. Hopefully this year won't be as scary as last year when his family was caught in a fire.

So much for all those rumors that Jennifer Lopez is going into hiding for the rest of her pregnancy. She was out in NYC yesterday doing some last-minute holiday shopping at Barneys. She's getting so big, right? I mean, obviously. She may not have made it on our shocking pregnancies of the year poll, but I'm totally looking forward to seeing her little one. It must be so exciting for her and Marc to think that next time this year they'll be celebrating their first Christmas with their new addition. Awww, yay.

• Nick Lachey and his Cincinnati choir won the Clash of the Choirs last night, raising $250,000 for a children's hospital in the choir's hometown. That's a great holiday surprise. — AP
• Former American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra, who is currently in jail facing a trial for drug, alcohol, and battery charges, is pregnant. Those Idol alums sure know how to keep themselves in the news. — TMZ
• Because of the findings of an independent review, the LA County Sheriff's department has concluded that Mel Gibson received preferential treatment during his 2006 DUI arrest, and three employees have been disciplined. It's nice to know attempts are being made to treat celebrities more like regular people in the eyes of the law. — People
• David Spade has donated $100,000 to Brad Pitt's Make It Right charity, which is trying to build 150 homes in a hurricane-ravaged part of New Orleans. We always knew that he was a sweetheart deep down. — TMZ

More than half you voted that you'd like to help Brad Pitt celebrate his birthday, but of course his family were the ones to actually receive that honor. Your favorite dad spent his special day with Angelina and the kids (minus Shiloh, boo — where in the world is she?) with a little bike tour around New Orleans. Looks like Mad, Pax, and Z got to relax a little while their mom and dad did all the pedaling — love it. Brad and Angie did get a little bit of time to themselves to stroll the streets of NOLA hand in hand yesterday, and maybe even picked up a few holiday surprises for their adorable clan.
