Methinks those rumors about the Olsens trying to patch things up with PETA must be false, because Mary-Kate was typically decked out in fur ducking out of a restaurant in NYC over the weekend. Clearly it was not an occasion that merited hair washing. She was also rocking her new favorite sunglasses and various other parts to create an all-around bizarre ensemble. At this point she wouldn't really be MK without all this nonsense, right?
Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen kept up their string of nights out in NYC with dinner at Kobe Club over the weekend. With a week off before starting his playoff run with the Patriots, Tom Brady has been living large in Manhattan with his girlfriend — leather jackets, scarves and all. Plus, they had something fun to celebrate, the AP just named Tom Brady their NFL MVP for the season. While I'm sure Tom's excited to be recognized and honored, he's got his eyes set on that Super Bowl for now.
Shia LaBeouf showed off his skills as an action star on the set of Eagle Eye in LA on Saturday. He looks so serious peeking out of the back of that ambulance, but clearly he was simply in character since shortly after he was showing off his big grin. The smoking star (boo) has a lot to smile about these days, especially since he just scored another VF cover. He even shared a laugh with his beautiful co-star Michelle Monaghan. Looks like Shia still has a way with the ladies, so maybe our prediction for him to score a celebrity girlfriend in 2008 will come true!
Jessica Alba, who we're more used to seeing daily in her workout gear and growing baby bump, looks glam and fun in February's Elle Magazine. Just about the only unexpected skin she's showing off, however, is the tattoo on the back of her neck. Unfortunately, the interview took place before she was openly pregnant so we'll have to wait to hear her gush about that, instead she talks about — what else — her sexuality and Zac Efron. Here are highlights:
On using her sex appeal in her career: “I think there are ambitious girls who will do anything to be famous, and they think men in this business are used to women doing that. . . . Contrary to how people may feel, I've never used my sexuality. That's not part of it for me. When I'm in a meeting, I want to tell you why I'm an asset, how I'm a commodity, how I can put asses in the seats, not, 'There's a chance you're going to be able to f*** me.' That's never been my deal.”
On turning 27: “I'm anticipating it . . . I'm feeling old, yes . . . 27 was when Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and Jim Morrison all died.”
On meeting Zac Efron: “He looks like a child with a lot of makeup. I was like, 'My God, you're just a little kid.'”
While the first part is pretty standard fare coming from Jessica these days, I will admit that Efron quote is kind of hilarious. It'll be interesting to see how her image and maybe even acting roles change once she's a mom. I guess that's one pretty surefire way for her to get people to look at her as more than a sexual object.
After Dr. Phil spent some time with Britney in the hospital, the rumors started flying that he would be devoting an episode of his talk show to Britney's psychological issues. The show was set to tape today, but now Dr. Phil has pulled the plug out of consideration to the Spears family. We can't help but wonder if the real reason he canceled was because he didn't get enough information to exploit Brit the way he originally intended to. Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were quite the happy couple running errands in LA on Saturday. Eva looked cute bundled up for Winter — check out how to get her fab style here. There was plenty of holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes, so it seems like these two are moving past all the cheating drama from last month. Speaking of eyes, how sad was Carlos's injury on last night's episode of Desperate Housewives? We still can't believe that we're going to have to wait until the writers' strike is over to find out what happens next on Wisteria Lane. At least Eva will get to spend lots of time cozying up to her man while her show is on indefinite hiatus.
Rachel Zoe was photographed walking down Robertson, Starbucks in hand, looking ready for some serious shopping. She looked chic in her round sunglasses and Chanel bag, which she wore with of-the-moment thigh-high boots, a denim Current/Elliott biker jacket, and printed scarf.
