Johnny Depp took his signature hat and sunglasses to Japan to promote Sweeney Todd today. He swapped his plaid shirt with a suit for the premiere with his BFF Tim Burton, but kept it quirky as usual with his untied tie. Now that the Golden Globes are officially canceled, we're sad that we won't have Johnny's pretty face gracing the red carpet this weekend, but hopefully at least he and Tim will take home some of the awards they've been nominated for. This time last year, Kate Moss was almost marrying Pete in Thailand, and now just months later, she's back in the same country but thankfully with someone else. Kate has taken new love Jamie there on vacation, where they were spotted Sunday on their way through security. Besides starting a new (and seemingly healthier) relationship, more good came Kate's way in 2007 as she apparently almost doubled her income in the past year. Maybe ditching Pete and cleaning up her act was the wisest financial move Kate has ever made.

Lindsay Lohan trotted back from her Italian adventure and straight to working away at that community service in Pomona California. I wonder if she regaled her Red Cross friends with stories of all her overseas gentlemen callers. Ugh, maybe it would be wise for Linds to stay away from the big mouthed men for a while while she gets herself back on track. Then again maybe she needs a more rigid selection process for guys in general, eh? Perhaps sleazy dudes are like her leggings, she just can't bring herself to move on to embrace the rest of the options out there.

Britney Spears was back in LA last night after her dramatic week and (blech) getaway in Palm Springs with paparazzo Adnan, and definitely returning to form. She went out for a drive to the drug store, got a flat tire on her way home, drove on it for a while and then left it in the middle of the road to ride with a random photographer who she had drive her home — of course. After abandoning it, her car was impounded and she went to spend the night at the Four Seasons (where she has apparently been un-banned). Meanwhile, the chosen carpool buddy was already talking. Ugh, well even if she's got new red boots, she's still up to her old tricks.

While the Golden Globes show is canceled this year, last night's Critics' Choice Awards brought out some A-Listers in LA. The stars all looked great on the red carpet and inside got down to honoring each other. The writers' strike was the topic of the night, but there were still some light hearted moments up on stage. Katie Holmes looked fabulous (in her toga) giving out an award while Angelina and Brad were ever the popular kids fielding visits at their table from Clooney/Queen Latifah and Casey Affleck. Javier really ran away with the show at the end up three times in a row to accept for himself, the Coens and the movie. He got in an anti-Bush jab, but his real acceptance speech was totally sweet. Jamie Lynn Spears dropped a bomb on us with her shocking pregnancy at the tail end of 2007 but she has been in hiding ever since. Now we finally get our first peek at the pregnant teen holding her GED book while supposedly leaving an adult education class in Kentwood, LA yesterday. While Jamie Lynn can barely lift her head up in her oversized sweatshirt, momager Lynne was there to provide just enough of a smirk to show she is getting somewhat of a thrill out of all of this. Well at least Jamie Lynn is staying out of trouble unlike another Spears we know.
