Jessica Alba traded in her "bump" hugging workout gear for a roomy gray dress (and some cute boots) on her way out to lunch in LA yesterday. She was finally full of smiles, too, and that was even before the news hit that her week of being the biggest pregnancy news in town is officially over thanks to the Jamie-Lynn Spears baby shocker. As out-of-left-field as Miss Spears seemed, I bet there are still some of you who think that Jessica's news was still the most surprising of the year (we'll check on that a little later). Maybe the two newly announced moms-to-be should get together and chat baby? Talk about an odd couple.
Yesterday we were totally taken off guard by the news that 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant, and now we have some details from her surprising (and probably lucrative) exclusive interview with OK! Magazine. It sounds like she wasn't expecting the news, and even kept it to herself to process for a while before telling anyone. Plus, she's planning to raise her child in Louisiana so he or she can "have a normal family life." Maybe she learned something from Brit after all? Here are highlights from the interview:
On learning the news: "It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected...I was in complete and total shock and so was he...As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn't tell anybody...Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me."
Lynne on her daughter's pregnancy: "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious. She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."
On premarital sex (why even ask): "I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait, but I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."
Still, wow. Also, Jamie Lynn was supposedly seen going to see Juno in NYC on Monday. How appropriate. In related news, Lynne Spears' parenting book has been "delayed indefinitely." Um, surprise? Britney seems like she's still in denial and I will say that I can't wait to read the rest of this interview — still in serious shock from the news.
Eva Longoria and Tony Parker strolled through the airport hand-in-hand the other day, proudly showing that they're not going to let a few nasty rumors get in the way of a romantic getaway. The couple has already denied the allegations, but now Tony is getting his lawyer involved. The basketball player's attorney issued a statement saying that Tony has "never even laid eyes on" Alexandra Paressant, the model who claims to have had an affair with him.
This isn't the first time a famous athlete has had to deny affair rumors. Sometimes they are true, but many times they are completely made up. What do you think?
While her lawyer was back in court today rescheduling the deposition and next custody hearing, Britney went shopping for Christmas presents for her boys. Back to that in a second, but wait a minute—does that OK! cover say that Britney's 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant!? TMZ has a few more details from the article including that Brit herself doesn't even know yet and the father is Jamie Lynn's longtime boyfriend Casey Aldridge. Wow, just wow. There's another Spears baby coming our way? If it's true, talk about a shocking pregnancy. As for that custody hearing for the big sis, it's set for February 19 and Brit has to actually show up and give her deposition sometime before then. Seriously though, who would have thought that for today, Britney's not the biggest news-making Spears girl around?
UPDATE: Nickelodeon has issued the following statement: "We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."
While it's not nearly as shocking or surprising as Jamie-Lynn Spears' pregnancy, 22-year-old Lily Allen is apparently also expecting her first child. The father is her boyfriend 37-year-old Ed Simons from the Chemical Brothers.
A source close to the singer said this to The Sun, "Lily is thrilled to be pregnant and can’t wait to become a mum. She’s a real family person...Ed’s very happy. He is really looking after her." So many babies, so many babies. So are you surprised, or still reeling from Jamie-Lynn?
