Well, I guess that answers my question about whether Sarah Larson got the invite to the Nobel Laureate event where George and Don Cheadle are set to be honored tomorrow night. After a quick stop in Milan, the couple was in Rome last night having a romantic dinner. Clooney is in town to be lauded for his work with Darfur, and the actor announced that he has plans to return to the area in January. He spoke to USA Today about it:
Q: What's the plan?
A: I'm not a politician, so the reason I go is to (focus) attention there. So we're going to try to get deeper into Darfur; try to get some cameras in to the tougher camps and have conversations. That's basically all I can do. If you put famous people in front of very ugly sites, people will watch.
Q: Have you been following your pal Brad Pitt's crusade in New Orleans?
A: It's a life choice for him and a big part of his life. Matt (Damon) does that, too. Don (Cheadle). A lot of the guys who are good friends of mine spend a good portion of their life doing this. In some ways, it's easier for us because we have some financial security, so we can say, "OK, let's stop worrying about ourselves and look out for other people." What should you do with all this kind of attention? Should you get out of a car without wearing underwear … ?
While Tom was off supporting his buddy Will Smith across America, Katie Holmes held down the fort in LA yesterday. She left her mini shopping partner at home this time around, but still took a page from Suri's book and got in the holiday spirit with some festive red pants. Tom and Katie looked like they were having lots of fun cheering on the Spice Girls last week and the two caught the show again in Vegas on Sunday. Now that Tom's away and Suri's at home, Katie has alone time to find the perfect holiday gifts for the family.
Britney Spears better be ready to talk. After a two-week break from court for her legal team, it's Britney's big day. She is set to give her deposition (under oath, of course) to Kevin's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, in his office this morning. She's expected at 10 am, and it could take all day, or more, depending on how much he has to ask and how much Brit talks. Against Kaplan's wishes (and agreeing with most of yours) Britney's testimony will not be videotaped. Though, considering how many of their custody battle legal documents have made it to the public, I'm sure we'll know the details of her deposition soon enough. Stay tuned, we'll be on top of Brit's big, and hopefully on time, day.
Nicole Richie looked calm and cool out shopping with her mom at The Grove in LA yesterday evening. She matched her hot Birkin with a pretty casual outfit, scarf and those ubiquitous Wayfarers. Nicole's in the final stretch of her pregnancy these days so hopefully she's getting all her holiday shopping done just in case. Right now she'll be in our favorite celebrity pregnancy of the year poll, there are still a few days left to add her little one to our list of favorite babies.
SJP was looking like her typically stylish self with her cute blue Loubs and leopard scarf in LA on Monday. Even though the Sex and the City movie is all wrapped up, the rumors surrounding it haven't died down just yet. The latest news is that the producers are so confident that the film will be a success that they're already working on a sequel and are hoping to make it into a franchise. It's a little early to start making box office predictions, but considering our excitement about the teaser for the movie, we're definitely not opposed to the idea of more movies featuring the four fabulous New Yorkers.
Kate Beckinsale was spotted leaving the hair salon in LA looking perfectly coiffed from head to toe. She wore a shirtdress over leggings, pairing it with Fiorentini + Baker buckle boots and a cozy scarf for a Fall-appropriate look.
