Back in 2006, The View suffered a big loss when Meredith Vieira headed on to The Today Show. Barbara announced Rosie O'Donnell would be the new moderator that was definitely a big change and one that seemed like it could add a breath of fresh air to the table. Unfortunately, Rosie only seemed to bring drama and negativity to the show from the moment she began. She carried her seemingly never ending feud with Donald Trump into the new year, eventually causing her to clash with Barbara Walters herself and it was all downhill from there. The tensions between Rosie and the other women only got worse as she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck started seriously squabbling, bringing things to a head when Rosie attacked Elisabeth and called her ignorant. The aftermath made speculative headlines about the fate of the show, but in the end Rosie decided to leave The View. The combination of her desire to hog headlines and lose her temper even scored her a spot on our poll for most annoying celebrity of 2007 but we hope that 2008 will be a calmer year in the life of Rosie where she can save her rants for her personal blog.
Adrian Grenier got into the giving spirit of the holidays by volunteering at a soup kitchen in Brooklyn on Friday. Love that he's keeping up his charitable streak, but we can't go without mentioning we'd love for him to clean up that messy hair he's been letting grow wild. Looking at his apron, we can't help but think that watching DVDs of our favorite shows on Netflix might be the best we can get for the next few months thanks to the sad writers' strike, but we'll keep our fingers crossed for the return of a cleaned up Vinny Chase come Summer time.
Even though celebrities have been getting ready for the holidays, there are still movies to premiere, awards to announce, and parties to attend. Here's what went down:
Will Smith started off the week in LA, where he received a star on the Walk of Fame, with pal Tom Cruise looking on proudly. He then headed to NYC where he stopped by TRL to promote I Am Legend before attending the premiere, again, with pal Tom Cruise.
We saw Victoria Beckham arrive in London in style on Thursday morning with the rest of the Spice Girls, but it looks like David and the boys were right behind. She's got 17 shows scheduled in the city over the next few weeks, and we already knew that they were planning on spending Christmas home in England, so they're here to stay for a while. Hopefully those precious boys all stayed warm in the cold after getting used to that LA weather. Today, the boys went ice skating at Hyde Park while Posh, Becks and his fancy hat looked on. I doubt he's contractually allowed to do anything as risky to those fragile legs of his.
As much as we love our celebrities, it seems that every year brings a new batch of stars that we wish would just go away. Some irritate us with their desperate desire to be famous while others need to learn when to keep their mouth closed. So tell us — who do you think is the most annoying celebrity of 2007?
Some hot young blondes came out in NYC last night for the Guggenheim Young Collectors Council Artist's Ball hosted by Chloe. Blake Lively looked great, as usual, helping Chace fill our Gossip Girl fix for this rerun week. One half of your favorite platonic TV duo of the year, Becki Newton looked hot other than those boots. Fab's got the look for you (with a better choice of footwear). Meanwhile, not Piper Perabo's best look at all. I'm sure a few fashion mishaps didn't get in the way of any sort of good time had by all the lovely ladies.
Nicky Hilton makes dressing for transition weather look so easy! Waiting for her car at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, she wore a trendy and chic ensemble consisting of a gray blazer, a simple black tank, denim cut offs and platform booties.
