Vince Vaughn looked typically semi-disheveled bringing his new movie Fred Claus to his hometown of Chicago over the weekend. Though the movie must take place in the North Pole (heh, naturally), much of it was filmed in Vince's home city and at last night's screening he talked about bringing a new cast there to film. Here's more:
"The city's great. The people are great. Everyone I bring here loves working here....I love the fact that Giamatti wore the fat suit and that was fine. I'm a native of Illinois, so I knew I would eat a lot while I was here. I was more authentic than he was when it came to the weight. He had to wear that suit to look convincingly fat. I just needed some deep-dish pizza and some steaks to get into character."
Mmmmm, pizza. These days it looks like Vince has slimmed down since he was at Claus weight and is maybe, just maybe getting back a little bit of that appeal? Fred Claus may not have me running for the ticket counter (especially since the previews just have me annoyed that he's reusing the "let's make some bad decisions" line from Wedding Crashers), but I'll always have a soft spot for scruffy Vince.
Most of you said you weren't planning on buying Britney's new album, but it looks like the masses disagreed on this one. Blackout sold over 325,000 copies, making it No. 1 on the Billboard charts after its first week. This is a great accomplishment for Brit, but it's still only half of In The Zone's opening week sales of 609,000 copies. We want to know — are you surprised that Britney's album hit #1?
Chuck Rundown: Episode 7, "Chuck Vs. the Alma Mater" I was so looking forward to this episode of Chuck, the one where he'd have to return to his alma mater and face his expulsion, his dashed romance, and his memories of the roommate that betrayed him and then stuck him with a big ol' computer brain. And yet, this episode left me cold.
After stopping by TRL yesterday, Tom swapped his tight jeans for a suit to take his deserving wife Katie out for dinner the night after Sunday's marathon run. If her feet are in any pain you wouldn't know it by her choice of footwear, this time opting for some hot knee-high boots. Tom's been all over the place promoting Lions for Lambs this month, and it finally hits the theaters this Friday. To get a preview of Tom as a presidential hopeful, just click here.
Cate Blanchett has been all over the world promoting Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but she took a break to devote some time to her love for fashion. Cate was the lucky guest of honor at Giorgio Armani's big unveiling of his new megastore in Tokyo today. The building boasts 65,000 square feet and 12 stories — that's a lot of Armani! She only just confirmed that she has a baby on the way, but Cate is already wearing that pregnancy glow so well. Of course, the designer maternity dress doesn't hurt either.
Jennifer Connelly looks gorgeous and glamorous on the December cover of Vogue. Something about all the photos of her is so intense and at the same time serene, but as expected she's not really one to crack a smile. In the article Jennifer talks about taking such dark roles, including her most recent one as a grieving mother in Reservation Road, and what ultimately turned her life around. Here's highlights:
On taking on sad roles: "I don't often play characters who are the happy-go-lucky girl next door. For the most part I have made dramas with women who are, you know, grieving." She laughs. "I think that has shaped people's perception of me. But I don't think that's necessarily a reflection of how I live my life. I don't think I'm a particularly sad person. I don't feel bereft or depressed. I don't think of myself as chilly. These are just parts that I find interesting."
On her looks contributing to the parts she gets: "Huh! Huh! I have no idea. I don't think of myself as someone who has such a strong physical appearance that it should push them one way or another. It makes me sort of mad to think that someone's coloring should define their personality. I mean, certainly, you look at someone like, again, Meryl Streep, you know that she can play anyone: Despite her fair coloring, you completely buy her no matter what she does. But maybe with me, a lesser talent, it is all about that." She laughs again. "You may be onto something."
Jessica Simpson learned the hard way why a girl should never ever walk over a grate in NYC while wearing stilettos after the ACE Awards last night. Luckily, she had plenty of people around to catch her, but the goofy look on her face is priceless and makes us reminisce abut her wacky antics from the Newlyweds days. One of the things we love about Jess is that she's able to laugh at herself and has a great spirit, and she recently talked to Extra about how excited she is to share her happiness on her upcoming album. She said,
“I can’t wait to share my heart with the world. I really can’t wait to let people in on what I’ve experienced - the fun, the good, the bad, the happy, the sad. I’m comfortable with letting people in now. I’m in a really good place. It’ll be a very personal album.”
We'll be looking forward to see what Jessica has in store for us, both musically and in Major Movie Star. Hopefully along the way she'll be a little more careful in the sky high heels we know she loves so much.
Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
