Jessica Biel put on her perma scowl and chunky knit to go grocery and frame shopping in LA over the weekend. You would think she would be smiling more since she just signed on to star with cutie Jake Gyllenhaal. They'll be working together in Nailed, a screenplay written by Al Gore's daughter about a woman (Biel) who is taken advantage of by a corrupt Congressman (Jake) after suffering a bizarre injury which leaves her with strange sexual urges. Sounds like it could get hot and heavy between the two stars, we wonder how Justin and Reese will feel about that one?

Tom Cruise stopped by TRL yesterday to promote Lions for Lambs looking, how shall I say this, a little endearingly dorky dad. As expected his girls weren't making the promotional rounds (hopefully Katie was finally getting some rest after her marathon run), though I will say that I would gladly welcome Suri's television debut in the arms of her dad. I'm sure Tom was a good sport about whatever silly games he was forced to play on the show (though something tells me he hadn't heard some of the songs on the countdown before). I just hope that he didn't feel the need to regale the crowd with his (in)famous dance moves.

Keira Knightley is this month’s Elle cover girl, the star of the upcoming film Atonement, and she had lots to share. Between dressing up in period costumes on set for The Duchess and gorgeous Chanel gowns on the red carpet, the British beauty had a chance to speak with the magazine about her feelings on cell phones, the commercial success of her movies, and winning her libel suit last May. Here’s more:

- On cell phones: "I hate them... It rings and then I realize that I don't want to talk to anyone. So I always press ignore... [After throwing her BlackBerry into the sea] I went, 'Oh, my God I want to be eco-friendly but I've chucked a BlackBerry into the sea... so I went diving into the water, which I hadn't actually been in, because there were meant to be barracudas or something, and I sort of fished around and couldn't find it anywhere."
- On the lackluster performance of Domino: "That is a film that belongs in an art gallery... I remember when Domino came out and it didn't do well. I was on the set of Pirates and people were coming up to me like it was a funeral. And I guess I just don't see it like that. Obviously I know the business side of it, but I am fundamentally not in it for that reason. I'm very, very selfishly in it because it interests me and that will lead me to do films that don't do well at the box office.
- On winning her libel suit in May: It was, "horrendous and completely devastating... because on another level it could potentially have ruined my career. Because if I had been anorexic, there is no way I would have been able to do a lot of the action movies that I do. People wouldn't have hired me. So when things are written that are trying to ruin my career, as that one was, I obviously have to take that very seriously."
It sounds like Keira is not going to let anyone get in the way of her cinematic success. Maybe it's that dedication that keeps the roles coming for Keira.

Glamour's Women of the Year 2007 came together at NYC's Lincoln Center last night to celebrate each other. Jennifer Connelly's dress was a fabulous color while the first ever Girl of the Year, Abigail Breslin looked perfectly appropriate. Mariah performed for the big event while some of TV's finest doctors, Taye and Eric Dane (and Chief), were among the men out to honor all these fabulous ladies. The issue's cover girl Jennifer Garner celebrated her night off from Broadway and pulled off a dress that most women could not, but didn't walk the red carpet with Ben. In the magazine Jennifer talks about why that is. She said:

We’ve worked really hard not to be one of those couples who are constantly in the limelight. In the past we’ve both been the kind of people who go along with things—if you’re supposed to be photographed together, you don’t question it. But how does that help your relationship? So now we refuse to walk the red carpet together: It’s a way of not condoning the attention. Plus, it just feels silly to be in that situation with him: Ben was nominated for a Golden Globe [for 2006’s Hollywoodland]. I remember being photographed next to him and thinking, This is ridiculous. You’re not some actor; you’re my husband.
While I fully appreciate her persepective, I can admit that I would love to see them walk together every once in a while. Even (or as it turns out, especially) without, they're certainly one of the cutest and most real marriages in Hollywood. A big big congrats to all the wonderful and inspiring women both winning the honors and attending the event last night. Claps, claps.

Last night the ladies got glam for the 11th Annual Accessories Council Excellence Awards in NYC. The ACE awards were given to a variety of designers and a few lucky actresses including Mandy Moore who won the Fashion Innovator award. Mandy looked fabulous with her brunette hair and simple sexy black dress. Jessica Simpson was looking amazing in her skin tight leopard print dress to present to the CEO of Macy's. Poor Deborah Norville made the unfortunate mistake of wearing the same dress as Jess - I would hate to be on that who wore it better poll. Lucy Liu wore one of the more adventurous dresses even if it was black. She was there to accept an award on behalf of Valentino. Heidi Klum looked great and golden but I didn't even recognize her at first glance. The model, host and jewelry designer was awarded the Fashion Influencer Award.

Lots more images of the girls including a gorgeous Kerry Washington who was there to present to Tory Burch and Nina Garcia who presented to Heidi so just read more

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt looked typically wax figure-esque out at last night's LA premiere of Beowulf. Angelina may have been shy about watching her computer generated body on the big screen, but she was full of smiles on the red carpet keeping herself covered in her coat while Brad opted for his requisite hat. Elsewhere on the red carpet Anthony Hopkins did his best Jack Nicholson impersonation while John Malkovich was generally cool in his yellow/green coat. Robin Wright Penn was looking good, too, but kind of unrecognizable, right? The movie doesn't hit screens until November 16th and I still can't decide whether it'll be worth a visit to the theater. How about you, on the edge of your seat excited or not so much?
