After a few days around NYC, where Jessica is apparently house hunting in order to be close to her record label while she records her country album, she was in LA over the weekend flashing those chompers for Operation Smile. She was certainly keeping herself covered up (to the point of looking a bit matronly) at the organization's 25th Annual Gala on Friday night. For a very pretty girl, Jessica Simpson can certainly choose an unflattering dress. I vastly prefer Jessica when she dresses casual (and the extensions are a bit much), but at least she wasn't wearing something inappropriate out to support the charity she's been working with for years. Now she just needs to find a good middle ground between this here and stuff like this.

Reese and Deacon were hand in hand shopping in LA over the weekend. Said it before, say it again, Deacon is going to be such a heart breaker when he grows up. Love it. Reese always seems like she is a great mom, probably more than a little bit because she was raised with real values. During her press junket for Rendition she recently talked to The Times of London about getting things done herself and how no one ever expects her to be able to. She said:

• On feeling underestimated: “I honestly don’t know where that comes from. As a child, I made great grades in school and had some friends – not a lot of friends, but a significant number – and, I don’t know, I’ve always felt this need to accomplish and push myself further. And I don’t feel like people really have any idea what I am capable of.”
• On doing things herself: “I don’t ever rest on anyone’s ideas of what they’re going to do for me – I never have,” she says. “My mother impressed that on me at a very early age. If you want something done, do it yourself. I have operated under that sensibility for a very long time.”

At this point, the world should know that Reese is capable of a great many things. I'd say hopefully she'll instill the desire to be self-proficient in those adorable little kids of hers, but something tells me she already has.

Halle Berry showed off her growing baby bump at the premiere for her new film Things We Lost in the Fire in NYC this weekend. Jennifer Hudson looked beautiful in purple while Halle looked cute and happy with her costar, Benicio Del Toro. Halle recently spoke with Oprah about her excitement in getting to work with Benicio. Here's more:

• Halle on Working with Benicio: "For about at least five years before we had this chance to work together, people would always say, 'Who do you want to work with?' And I would always say, 'Benicio Del Toro, never really imagining how that would happen or if it would come to pass."
• Halle on Benicio the Comedian: "When you work on a movie that has the gravity of this movie, you need someone to lighten it up. He had a wonderful way of just making us all smile or finding the light touch in every scene, because every scene can't be heavy and downtrodden."

Not only are Halle's dreams of having a baby finally coming true, but the Oscar winner also has a gorgeous man in her life and is getting to work with her favorite actors. After some really rocky relationships, Halle must be feeling great that her life has turned out so fortunate. After weeks of one bad thing after another Britney's family finally came to her rescue. Word is there was going be an intervention but from the looks of things since Jamie Lynn's arrival, it's nothing but fast food and coffee runs. Before her mom and sis arrived Britney spent part of the weekend with her old producer/hook up friend, JR Rotem. Gross. We never really liked this guy but we haven't been a fan of any of her boyfriends since JT. Anyway, hopefully with Mom and JL by her side Britney can try to get her life back in order. She's got just a couple of weeks to warm up to the judge so everyone will be watching until then.

Angelina, Brad, Mad and Z celebrated an unseasonably warm October afternoon in NYC with a helicopter ride. Angelina stayed monochromatic, but still was out of character in her tank top and shorts. As for the other kids, Shiloh got her big trip to the MoMA with mom and dad on Friday (so adorable) and I'm sure Pax had his reasons to sit this one out. Wherever these four were on their way to, they naturally brought their big FAO bag of toys with them. The whole family has been getting up to all sorts of fun in NYC, but rumor has it that the Jolie-Pitts are considering relocating to the south of France. That being said, they never stay in one place for very long, so I'm not holding my breath that they'll really settle down anywhere.

Christina ditched the extreme red lips while out shopping with Jordan and her in-laws in LA this weekend. The toned down, more natural glowing soon to be momma spent her Saturday afternoon on Robertson at Bel Bambini getting their baby registry all set up. Apparently they picked out lots of fabulous goodies including blankets, bags, bottles and lots of cute clothes. Christina even got in some baby practice toting around her little niece. This couple may have decided to skip the official announcement, but smiling for the cameras and showing off your bump at a baby store is enough of a statement for us!
