Britney didn't make any surprise appearance at last night's Emmys, but she's still in the headlines. Another day in the Britney/Kevin custody battle. After rumors that Kevin's side would present a damaging new "secret witness", Britney's lawyer Laura Wasser has reportedly decided to jump ship. It's no surprise that Britney is difficult to deal with and probably doesn't listen much to advice, plus this isn't the first time that Wasser has threatened to leave. Hopefully her new lawyer is up for the challenge.

Wasser will probably be happy that she decided to leave when she did, because the other big rumor about Britney this morning is more than a little unpleasant. The UK's The Sun is reporting that Brit has been banned from the Chateau Marmont for her bizarre behavior. Most notably they're saying that one night she disrupted diners in the hotel's restaurant by "smearing" food on her face. Ew, ew. Hopefully that's a total exaggeration.

Also sadly for Britney, Gimme More isn't doing so well on the radio. Her new single was apparently picking up steam, but has dropped in spins since her VMA performance last week. Maybe it's time for some more of that new music?

• Evan Handler has signed on to reprise his role as Harry in the Sex and the City movie. The fact that so many of the show's stars want to be involved in the film is definitely a good sign. - People
• The Brave One took the #1 slot at the box office this weekend away from 3:10 to Yuma. Clearly Jodie Foster hasn't lost her ability to draw an audience. - BuzzSugar

Jessica Simpson continued to show off her seriously toned legs and her undying love for healthy fluids like Fuze after a trip to the gym over the weekend. We've been gushing about how amazing she is looking lately, but she's definitely taken it to a new level showing off her flat tummy and toned stems. Obviously she's feeling pretty confident about herself too - she even cut up her favorite jeans! Guess she's always going to have a little bit of Daisy Duke in her.

Before the big night, some of the honored TV stars came out for EW's big annual Emmy party. Obviously Kate Walsh was looooving herself as fall tv preview issue cover girl as she posed with the magazine on the red carpet, ugh. Heidi and Vanessa certainly were belles of the ball, while Eva went with a pretty standard gold look. Blech, can Piven (and everyone else) finally lose the fedora? Please? Such a cheese with that thing on. All this is just JV glamor compared to the Emmys themselves - don't miss all that fun. Entertainment Weekly throws a great party and I can't wait to have all these celebs back on the TV weekly, too.

Ryan Seacrest put his best hosting face forward at last night's Emmy Awards, but it was the round stage that really stole the show. The concept was cool, but it definitely made for some awkward moments, right? The Rainn Wilson/Kanye West version of Don't Forget The Lyrics was a highlight, along with Steve Carell "stealing" Ricky Gervais' Emmy. Dempsey = McDreamier than ever, yes? Christina/Tony also did a great job at a show that was obviously paying homage to Bennett in a lot of ways (icymi, check out the performance here).
