Last night, Ellen Pompeo was joined by some of her Grey's Anatomy co-stars at the annual LA Confidential Pre-Emmy Party. Ellen's the cover girl for their special Emmy issue, but she and her co-stars had even more reason to celebrate since the third season of Grey's is out on DVD today. Eric and Rebecca were looking cozy as usual while Ellen chatted it up with nominee Sandra Oh. Most of our favorite shows had at least one representative in the house, including Weeds' Hunter Parrish and Entourage's Rex Lee. It looks like everyone played nicely last night, but we wonder if things will be the same on Sunday when the Emmys take place! Oh, and ICYMI - we're giving away a free year of cable to the user who fills out the most accurate Emmy ballot, so get on that!

Britney's laid low (well, other than that one thing) since her Sunday night VMA performance, but that certainly doesn't mean the rumors have been quiet around her. In fact, as Simon Cowell pointed out, the world is talking about her more than ever (not to mention that she certainly stole the VMA show). Simon's not the only celebrity coming to Brit's defense, Fergie let out an impassioned plea for people to give Spears a break.

To the public, there are a million reasons to criticize Britney but for MTV it's only been gold - the VMAs ratings were up 23% from last year!

Oh - and the newest detail about her VMA look, Ken Paves flew to Vegas to do her hair, but "made the professional decision" not to. To be fair, her hair has looked way worse but she still could have used the help.

Elsewhere in Britney, the record label is trying to overshadow her performance with more buzz about her album. Both People and EW came out with sneak previews on more new tracks and lyrics from her album. As great as it is to hear hot new lyrics about her "bad media karma" and being "Mrs. American Dream", there is still no word on whether the music is any good.

On an entirely different Brit note, she sold her temporary Beverly Hills house that she never really lived in and is back in Malibu. I'm sure Sean Preston, who turns 2 this week as JJ turns 1, is loving it. Just a thought that I'm sure she's heard before - maybe getting out of LA entirely would be best.

Calvin Klein brought out some of Hollywood's cutest fashionistas at Fashion Week yesterday including the adorable Ashley Olsen. Her simple white t-shirt with matching black bra and skirt was sweet yet not so innocent. Rosario however, went way sexier showing off her curves in a skintight dress. Kate Bosworth was back in town after looking way cuter in pink at TIFF. She's been quite the busy girl lately and is only picking up more speed - she just signed on for another movie called Veronika Decides to Die. Definitely sounds like heavier stuff than Calvin Klein's new spring line, but maybe Kate's ready for a change. On the big day for Kanye and 50 Cent, the cantankerous (and cranky) rappers visited BET's 106th & Park to perform as the public decided whose album to buy. No official numbers are out, initial projections say that Kanye's Graduation will outsell 50 Cent's Curtis in the first week. Billboard says that Kanye is expected to sell somewhere in 575,000-700,000 while 50's will be in the 500,000-600,000 range. The battle has not been won yet, but it looks like 50 Cent is going to be called out for his pledge to quit the game if he loses. Did you buy either of them yesterday? Kanye may be the winner, but word is he's being an egotistical baby about promotional appearances. Boo. Oh, and as an update to the Kanye/MTV thing, the network "extended an olive branch" to the rapper. Something tells me they'll make up.

Brace yourselves everyone - MM has finally put his shirt back on and he appears to have left the beach. Possibly lost, Matthew was caught wandering the streets of Beverly Hills with a toothpick and a visor. He showed no signs of stretching, running or exercising of any kind. We are shocked and confused by this drastic change of events. It must mean summer is coming to an end. The good news is at least fall TV is right around the corner!
